An exciting opportunity has become available to join an established Compliance Team at Quilter Cheviot, a longstanding investment management firm, reporting to the Compliance Manager responsible for regulatory change and providing support to the business and senior members of the firm.

We are seeking a candidate who has relevant experience in discretionary wealth management and compliance that wants the opportunity to grow.
This role sits within Quilter Cheviot's risk team. The team of ten covers compliance surveillance, advisory, risk and regulatory change.

There is good scope to grow in this role as the regulatory remit is wide covering UK, Dublin, Jersey and Dubai to support business in these regulatory jurisdictions.

In addition, the activity scope is extensive covering investment management, managed portfolio services, funds, sustainability investment solutions and most recently financial planning services.

Learning will be supported by the team with the opportunity to complete professional qualifications and take on additional responsibilities as your development increases. The role is to assist the compliance manager responsible for regulatory change to ensure that Quilter Cheviot is aware of and reacts to all future regulatory change activities in a timely manner. This is achieved by conducting horizon scanning, impact analysis and then if appropriate a gap analyses (if a forthcoming regulation is going to impact the businesses).

The regulatory change function highlights the future regulatory changes to key impacted stakeholders and works with the business to meet the new requirements and tracks progress. With the most impactful changes/ pan Quilter-wide scope changes the QC regulatory change team will work with the project team and collaborate with the other businesses, namely Quilter Investors, Quilter Financial Planning and Quilter Investment Platform.

Besides the core activity of regulatory change other responsibilities include ensuring compliance policies are kept up to date to include the compliance policy and ensuring that Quilter Cheviot's regulatory permissions accurately reflect the activities it is conducting.

In addition, there are ad-hoc tasks that the regulatory change function get involved in for example regulatory applications for a change of business activities, external due diligence questionnaires and dealing with requests from the regulator and presenting/training on new requirements as a result of regulatory change.

Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with the compliance manager, work towards creating a strategic framework in relation to regulatory change management for QC.
  • Assess the policy and provisions of the Regulator and the implications for QC through conducting gap analysis where required
  • Assist with any remediation work and assess where changes may be required to meet the new regulations.
  • Regular review of regulatory publications that includes consultation papers, policy statements and directives.
  • Draft communications across the business regarding forthcoming regulatory changes and their implications.
  • Review, update and draft procedures and policies to ensure that they reflect accurately the current regulatory environment.
  • Liaise with the Compliance team and more widely across the business regarding the implementation of regulatory changes and how they should be integrated effectively.
  • Represent the compliance manager at meetings across the business and wider group.
  • Assist the compliance manager with other tasks as required.

Qualifications required:

Degree or equivalent qualification.

Qualified / or part qualified Diploma in Investment Compliance.

Experience:

Experience working in a compliance role for a wealth management firm / or a professional services firm and ideally with exposure to financial planning.

Evidence of working in an analytical capacity and being able to demonstrate an ability to interpret findings in a coherent and concise manner. Provide pragmatic solutions for the business interpreting and implementing regulatory change based on sound commercial awareness.
