Job Summary
The Ethics & Compliance Officer will play a critical role in furthering the professionalization and alignment of the Ethics & Compliance framework across our international operations. This role involves working on various compliance topics such as anti-bribery, anti-corruption (ABAC), privacy (GDPR), and trade sanctions. You will develop strategies and initiatives to manage compliance risks, support whistleblowing processes, and train staff to foster a culture of integrity and accountability. Additionally, you will liaise with external bodies such as the TIC Council and manage compliance in the context of mergers and acquisitions.

The Ethics & Compliance Officer will play a critical role in furthering the professionalization and alignment of the Ethics & Compliance framework across our international operations. Additionally, you will liaise with external bodies such as the TIC Council and manage compliance in the context of mergers and acquisitions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Ethics & Compliance Framework, ensuring alignment with international regulations and company values.
- Provide expert advice on anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and privacy-related matters (GDPR).
- Manage compliance controls, including the development of training materials, e-learning platforms, and regular updates for the team.
- Serve as a point of contact for whistleblowing processes and ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with internal and external guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external bodies (e.g., TIC Council, KPMG) to monitor and manage compliance issues, including regular audits to ensure adherence to TIC Council standards.
- Contribute to the compliance strategy for mergers and acquisitions, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and ABAC guidelines during risk assessments and due diligence.
- Participate in Kiwa Compliance Committee meetings that take place quarterly, and act as a liaison with external auditors (e.g., KPMG) to ensure continued membership and compliance with the TIC Council.
- Liaise with the Kiwa compliance community, both in the Netherlands and internationally, to ensure consistent application of compliance policies.
- Manage Kiwa's privacy compliance program, ensuring GDPR adherence in multiple jurisdictions, monitoring privacy breaches, and managing the data processing register.
- Facilitate compliance-related trainings and e-learnings, ensuring both existing and newly joined employees are up to date on critical compliance topics.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing regular reports and updates on compliance matters.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 8 years of experience in a similar role, working on corporate compliance topics such as ABAC, trade sanctions, third party due diligence, whistle blower, code of conduct and privacy/GDPR, preferably in a global, decentralized organization.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage projects in a dynamic, decentralized international environment. Proficiency in using compliance software and other relevant tools.
- Language: Fluent in English. Proficiency in Dutch, Spanish, German or French is a plus.
- Attributes: Mature, independent, and able to act as a trusted advisor. Convincing, persuasive, and capable of fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Strong sense of integrity and commitment to ethical practices.
- Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed.
- Location: Based in the Netherlands and eligible to work, without requiring visa-sponsorship.
