We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Compliance & Assurance Officer to join the Strategy & Regulation team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Yorkshire Water needs to be compliant with all regulatory reporting guidelines and must produce reports, as required, for our regulators, our customers and other stakeholders. This includes our Annual Performance Report and other supporting publications.
The Regulatory Compliance and Assurance Officers will monitor compliance with the 15 statutory or regulatory obligations relevant to the Regulation team. Working with subject matter experts, they will ensure that there are relevant policies, procedures, standards, controls and training and that these are being followed. They will hold lessons learned exercises for breaches or near misses. They will monitor and assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the regulatory practices, policies, risk, and control assessments and enhance compliance culture at Yorkshire Water.

Where you fit in:
As our Regulatory Compliance and Assurance Officer you will
- Provide specialist technical advice on regulatory reporting requirements
- Ensure reporting requirements have roles and responsibilities allocated, train and support individuals in delivering their accountabilities.
- Undertake regular risk reviews across business teams within Yorkshire Water, ensuring these are being appropriately acted upon and assurance plans are created and agreed. This will also involve communicating the risks and escalating risks as required.
- Build and manage the Level 3 external audit and assurance programme, in line with completed risk assessments for regulatory reporting, ensuring internal and external stakeholders adhere to agreed deadlines.
- Conduct compliance reviews and complete due diligence across the company to ensure controls continue to comply with regulatory reporting requirements across multiple business areas and ensure these are reviewed considering any updated requirements.
- Manage collective administrative tasks required for the Regulatory Assurance. This could involve managing audit trails, writing letters for external or internal contacts, reviewing contracts, documenting procedures and ensuring documents are collated and recorded adequately.
- Supporting Yorkshire Water business teams to complete recommendations and actions, supporting on projects and proactively identify and deliver continual improvement on ways of working.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Degree, qualification or experience in regulatory reporting, compliance, assurance and / or risk management.
- Strong networking, interpersonal and influencing skills, with ability to develop and maintain effective and extensive internal and external relationships.
- Good knowledge and use of Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and Excel.
- Experience of report and presentation writing with excellent verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter who can take initiative
- Self-driven, able to identify and source data and information to support reviews and recommendations.
- Proactively finds solutions and influences future activities, based on analysis of information.
- Holds the highest standards of integrity and ethics
- Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours
- Previous experience gained within the water sector, or broader regulated utilities.
