Customs & Compliance Manager

The CSR Compliance Officer will coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and compliance programs within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The role ensures the organisation adheres to UK regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and sustainability goals while promoting a culture of responsible manufacturing. Key Responsibilities CSR Strategy and Support <ul><li>Assist with delivery of CSR strategies aligned with the company's mission and objectives.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams to design and execute sustainability initiatives, such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and ethical sourcing.</li><li>Engage with suppliers to ensure ethical practices across the supply chain, including compliance with Modern Slavery Act requirements.</li><li>Hold responsibility for response to customer supplier form completion for CSR</li></ul>Regulatory Compliance <ul><li>Monitor compliance with relevant UK and EU laws, including food safety standards, environmental regulations, and employment laws.</li><li>Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to ensure adherence to regulatory and ethical standards.</li><li>Stay updated on changes to UK legislation and industry standards affecting CSR and compliance.</li></ul>Reporting and Metrics <ul><li>Prepare and present regular reports on CSR activities, compliance audits, and sustainability performance metrics for senior management and external stakeholders.</li><li>Measure and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to environmental, and governance objectives.</li><li>Be responsible for obtaining and reporting on CO2 and Waste for the UK</li></ul>Stakeholder Engagement <ul><li>Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and community groups.</li><li>Represent the company in industry forums and sustainability networks</li></ul>Key Skills and Qualifications Essential <ul><li>Proven experience in CSR, compliance, or sustainability roles, ideally in the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.</li><li>Strong knowledge of UK compliance regulations, such as food safety standards, environmental legislation.</li><li>Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.</li><li>Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.</li><li>Analytical skills to assess and report on CSR and compliance performance metrics.</li></ul>Desirable, but not essential <ul><li>Degree in Sustainability, Business Management, Environmental Science, or a related field or equal experience in area</li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and certifications like BRCGS.</li><li>Understanding of environmental impact assessments and carbon footprint analysis.</li></ul>Personal Attributes <ul><li>Passionate about ethical and sustainable practices in the food industry.</li><li>A proactive and detail-oriented problem solver.</li><li>The ability to influence and inspire others.</li><li>Resilient under pressure and able to work in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul>
