Responsibilities

45% Client Work
  • Successfully interacts and develops relationships with clients and builds rapport with their Human Resources team.
  • Works with new clients who may have benefit compliance deficits to understand the extent of the issues, prioritize those issues, and develop a plan to address the issues.
  • Works with existing clients, helping them understand changes to employment and benefits laws and how to take the necessary steps to be compliant.
  • Flexes style and approach based on the client's level of knowledge and experience with employment and benefit laws.
  • Strives to create an atmosphere where the client's HR team feels comfortable asking questions of any level, knowing confidentiality is maintained.
  • Conducts Compliance Review with the client; creates a compliance report that outlines issues and suggestions for becoming more compliant. Provides samples of documents when needed and performs necessary follow-up.
  • Meets with the client's HR team to discuss legal aspects of the company's benefit plan and any Human Resources issues needing guidance.
  • Provides guidance and resolution to resolve benefit compliance issues with clients.
  • Gathers documents, organizes information and conducts preparation meetings with clients that are being audited by the Department of Labor.
45% Communications & Education
  • Establishes partner relationships with subject matter experts in employment and benefit laws.
  • Responsible for understanding legislative process and tracking legislation relevant to all labor law.
  • Assists consultants in developing compliance presentations.
  • Review all compliance communication pieces to ensure content is accurate according to legal standards and requirements.
  • Creates "Compliance Alerts" for delivery to clients based on legal requirements, whether new or as additional guidance is issued.
  • Educates and provides support to internal team members on benefits compliance issues.
  • Creates clear and easy-to-understand compliance presentations.
  • Analyzes legal documents and breaks down information into understandable pieces.
  • Uses research tools to find answers to legal questions; utilizes various resources to gain knowledge and remain up to date on changes.
10% Determination

Displays commitment and initiative to meet department and agency education goals as set forth in the organization's education program.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, plus a minimum of eight years

experience as Lead Human Resources representative. Qualified candidates will possess a strong

background in Labor Law, ERISA, and employee benefits laws, or an equivalent combination of

education and experience.

Certifications
  • Must be able to obtain designations/certifications as set forth by the organization's education plan.
  • SHRM certification is a plus.
