Who you are - Compliance Analyst

You are a dynamic, detail oriented, intuitive person with the ability to develop relationships, build rapport and become a trusted team member. What you'll do
  • Analyzes and administers complaint activity by performing industry trend analysis and comparing to the credit union complaints to identify areas of risk, assessing escalated complaints and determining correct course for resolution, ensuring that regulatory complaints are closed within required time frames and creating the quarterly draft reports for the Supervisory and Risk Management Committee.
  • Ensures all marketing materials are compliant prior to publication by reviewing advertising pieces, campaigns, blogs, promotions, member letters, forms and disclosures and providing recommended edits to marketing materials to maintain compliance. Performs analysis to determine that campaigns and promotions are in line with credit union policies and disclosures. Elevates potential regulatory issues to the Compliance Officer.
  • Facilitates compliance research, providing guidance and recommendations to business line leaders including regulatory and legal reviews, while escalating higher risk items to the Compliance Officer for review and guidance.
  • Maintains the policy review schedule for the credit union by working with policy reviewers to keep the workflow on schedule, cross referencing policies to ensure changes are made consistently across all policies, preparing approved reports for distribution and preparing the final drafts for the Board of Directors review.
  • Responsible for the analysis of new laws and regulations, or amendments to existing regulations, by researching the changes and applying them to current operations, policies, products and services to help determine the course of action by the credit union. Maintains the Regulatory Updates Log for quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
  • Evaluates the compliance training program and assists in designing the annual plan for the credit union by conducting the annual training needs analysis, reviewing and recommending course work, drafting the compliance training plan, evaluating failed attempts and overdue training to identify training needs and providing monthly reporting
  • Facilitates all internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Stays current on industry developments, including attending compliance training.
  • Performs other tasks or functions as required, requested, necessary or prudent from time to time.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
  • 5 years of experience in a compliance or operations role within a financial institution, and encompassing a broad knowledge of products and services, is required.
  • Professional certification in a risk management discipline preferred (NCCO, CUCE, CRCM).
  • A bachelor's degree
Physical Demands/Conditions Required:
  • Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Equipment Used:
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
MENTAL AND/OR EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
