Position Summary

The Compliance Analyst plays a vital role in implementing and maintaining the Election Integrity Unit and fraudulent filing complaint review program within the Ohio Secretary of State's office by coordinating case progression and case management. The Compliance Analyst will work closely with the Director of Investigations and Special Investigators to ensure complaints are properly reviewed, relevant information researched, and administrative responsibilities of the program completed reliably.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Public Integrity Division personnel perform a variety of operational functions and administrative responsibilities in support of office investigative programs, including determining the value, significance, and relevance of information developed, and supplement the same by locating and extracting additional information.

• Assesses case developments, applies requirements, and assists in making determinations for appropriate next steps in casework.

• Provides essential technical support by manipulating a wide variety of databases and managing data filing; inputting and extracting data from multiple databases/sources; and preparing reports.

• Prepares and presents oral briefings and written reports on the conclusions and recommendations drawn from data/information.

• Provides direct support to the Director of Investigations and Special Investigators, with responsibility for key components in case progression and case management.

• Reviews fraudulent business filing complaints for statutory requirements, provides accused opportunity to respond, obtains fraudulent business filing committee resolution if challenged, and notifies Business Services Division and complainant of outcome.

• Compares voter registration records with bureau of motor vehicle records and federal databases to identify ineligible voter registration records, including mailing notification letters and communicating results with applicable divisions.

• Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity when handling investigation information and communications.

• Prepares reports, presentations, and other materials to support investigative programs and improvement efforts.

• Assists in developing and coordinating division presentations.

• Travels on occasion; may require overnight stay.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred:

  • Completed an undergraduate core program in criminal justice, social sciences (e.g., criminology, sociology, psychology) or related field.
Experience

Required:

  • Excellent client-facing communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills, including excellent attention to detail.
  • Twenty-four months experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:

  • Six months experience with Microsoft Teams.
  • Twenty-four months professional experience serving survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, or stalking.
  • Knowledge of crime victim protection and confidentiality laws.
  • Knowledge of protocols applicable to handling sensitive information.
  • Twelve months professional public speaking, including trainings and presentations to various audiences.
  • Some experience in election administration.
