The Compliance Analyst, Conflict of Interest serves as Ethics and Compliance Office staff and is a key team member in City of Hope's conflict of interest compliance program and activities. At the direction of the Conflict-of-Interest Manager, the Compliance Analyst assists with day-to-day operations and administration of the conflict of interest program. The Compliance Analyst will assist with performing regular and ad hoc reviews to monitor compliance with City of Hope's conflict of interest compliance requirements and policies to ensure compliance with the PHS Financial Conflict of Interest regulations, and other research and conflict of interest related regulations. The Compliance Analyst is also responsible for fielding and responding to ad hoc conflict of interest compliance-related inquiries including investigations, monitoring and improvement activities, and using judgment and expert knowledge to escalate issues to the Conflict-of-Interest Manager and/or Ethics & Compliance Office leadership. The Compliance Analyst will also assist in reviewing and responding to various conflict of interest-related audits and reviews. The Compliance Analyst communicates regularly with other departments including the Office of Human Research Subjects Protection, Office of Technology Transfer and also with various levels of staff regarding research and conflict of interest issues. Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years' experience in an academic medical center required, preferably in a position that required knowledge and experience with the relevant area of subject matter expertise, or a similar job that required interpretation of complex regulations and communication of same to all levels of staff. Individual must possess excellent attention to detail, strong writing and verbal communications skills, and be able to make critical decisions based on data analysis. .

As a successful candidate, you will:
- Provides support to the Conflict of Interest Manager with day-to-day operations and administration of the conflict of interest program, and may serve as back-up to the Conflict of Interest Manager at times of unavailability (i.e., vacations). Activities include assisting with review of conflict of interest disclosures provided by faculty and staff, and preparation of conflict of interest management plan terms and conditions; administration of the conflict of interest independent monitoring program; administration of the process to conduct conflict of interest reviews related to federal grants. Assists Conflict of Interest Manager with ensuring faculty, staff, and researchers' compliance with conflict of interest management plan terms and conditions.
- Performs regular and ad hoc internal audits or reviews or provides support for external audits as directed within established time-frames. Performs reviews of faculty, staff, and researchers' conflict of interest disclosures and reviews publicly available information regarding financial interests (e.g., CMS Open Payments data, SEC data) to determine the completeness of such disclosures.
- At the direction of Conflict of Interest and Research Ethics & Compliance Office leadership, acts as a resource for research and conflict of interest compliance inquiries, including receipt, evaluation and follow up. Gathers information and data needed to make decisions and provide advice.
- Supports the Conflict of Interest and Commitment Committee and assists with special projects relating to the area of expertise as requested. Assists with projects involving data management using database tools.
- Maintains current knowledge of application of federal and state laws and regulations relevant to area of expertise such as the PHS Financial Conflict of Interest regulations and enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs relating to such topics.
- Supports the Ethics and Compliance Office with performance of other compliance-related duties as requested including development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree
- Relevant Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
- At least three (3) years' experience in compliance, preferably in a large academic medical center and/or research setting, or related experience in a similar field.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and analytical and critical decision-making skills required.
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel and Adobe Acrobat Writer and Reader, experience with iRIS.
