To take things to the next level, we're seeking a sharp and driven Compliance Assurance Officer who is passionate about consumer protection.

Your Mission

We are searching for an exceptional Compliance Assurance Officer to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will have the unique opportunity to ensure Carmoola adheres to all regulatory and legal requirements, developing and maintaining compliance frameworks that support responsible business practices.

As we continue to innovate, you'll have the chance to leverage automation and modern compliance practices to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce risk. This isn't just a job; it's a chance to set new standards in how we handle these critical functions.

Your work will ensure that we deliver WOW to our customers, our regulatory commitments are met, and Carmoola sets the gold standard for compliance in the fintech car finance industry.

What You'll Be Doing

As Compliance Assurance Officer, your expertise will help shape our compliance monitoring framework, ensuring we continue to deliver responsible and innovative financial solutions.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Compliance Assurance Reviews - Plan and deliver risk-based reviews to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Thematic Reviews - Design and execute deep dives into key risk areas such as vulnerability, affordability, and complaints handling.
  • Report Writing - Produce clear, actionable assurance reports with evidence-based findings and practical recommendations.
  • Action Tracking - Monitor, follow up, and validate the closure of agreed management actions and ensure timely resolution.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders across the business, ensuring issues are clearly understood and supporting them in addressing compliance risks.
  • Consumer Duty Monitoring - Oversee the continuous embedding and monitoring of Consumer Duty requirements, ensuring we consistently deliver good outcomes for customers.
  • Automation - Identify opportunities to use automation and technology to enhance efficiency, reduce manual errors, and ensure regulatory tasks are completed accurately.
Requirements

What You'll Bring
  • At least 3 years of experience in a compliance monitoring role within a consumer credit company.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured reports and documentation for key stakeholders.
  • A keen eye for detail, with the ability to identify issues, control gaps, and interpret regulations and legislation confidently.
  • A constructive approach to challenging the status quo and influencing positive change across the business.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a systematic and methodical approach to managing tasks and reviews.
  • A proactive mindset with a strong sense of initiative, able to identify and address compliance risks before they escalate.
  • Comfortable applying risk management principles in an assurance environment.
  • Professional compliance qualification (ICA, CISI, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
If you're passionate about making a difference but don't meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply-we'd love to hear from you!
