As the Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical installations, inspections, and testing align with NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) standards and regulatory requirements. This includes managing compliance for hazardous areas, maintaining certification, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols across our operations.

Responsibilities:

Compliance and Regulatory Management:
    • Oversee and ensure compliance with NICEIC standards across all projects, including certification and inspection requirements.
    • Implement and enforce compliance practices for Hazardous Area Regulations (DSEAR, ATEX), ensuring all work complies with NICEIC standards for installations in explosive or high-risk environments.
    • Ensure that all electrical installations meet the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018), verifying that they are safe and meet current UK safety standards.
    • Manage certifications for Qualified Supervisor (NIC QS) and Principal Duty Holder (NIC PDH), ensuring all work meets NICEIC standards.

Inspection and Testing:
    • Conduct and oversee regular Inspection and Testing of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with Test and Inspect standards.
    • Oversee audits and inspections within hazardous areas, ensuring all installations are compliant with CompEX certifications (09-10 or 01-04 and 14) and safe for operation.
    • Promptly address and resolve any compliance issues or safety concerns, coordinating with teams to implement corrective measures.

Training and Compliance Support:
    • Develop and deliver training for staff on NICEIC compliance standards, particularly in hazardous environments.
    • Offer specialized guidance to staff on safety protocols, risk assessments, and best practices related to electrical safety and hazardous area work.
    • Support team members in obtaining necessary NICEIC certifications and other qualifications needed to uphold compliance.

Policy Development and Documentation:
    • Create, document, and maintain compliance policies aligned with NICEIC standards, DSEAR, ATEX, and the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
    • Keep detailed records of all inspections, certifications, and testing for audit purposes and regulatory reporting.
    • Ensure company stays compliant with current and future changes to legislation and policies.

Audit and Continuous Improvement:
    • Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with NICEIC, DSEAR, ATEX, and other relevant standards.
    • Identify areas for process improvement, driving initiatives to enhance safety and compliance across the organization.
    • Prepare for and support external audits by NICEIC and other regulatory bodies, ensuring accurate records and policy alignment.

Safety and Regulatory Requirements:

NICEIC and Electrical Standards Compliance:
    • Ensure all electrical work complies with NICEIC standards, promoting best practices.
    • Maintain compliance with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018), ensuring safe electrical installation practices.

Hazardous Area Compliance (DSEAR, ATEX):
    • Ensure adherence to DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) standards, managing risks associated with hazardous environments.
    • Comply with ATEX Directives for equipment and protective systems used in explosive atmospheres, ensuring proper certification and maintenance.
    Emergency Preparedness and Safety Protocols:
    • Develop emergency response protocols for hazardous environments, training staff on evacuation, first aid, and equipment handling.
    • Conduct risk assessments and ensure that controls are in place to manage risks associated with electrical installations in hazardous areas.


Qualifications & Experience:
    • NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS) and Principal Duty Holder (PDH).
      • CompEX certification (09-10 or 01-04 and 14) for hazardous area compliance.
      • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations knowledge and adherence.
      • Test and Inspect certification to oversee safe electrical practices.
