Position Overview:
The Compliance Manager is a multifaceted and significant role with a primary focus on maintaining the relationship between AKAM's clients and both city & state regulatory agencies.
Success in this role is driven by the focused maintenance of tracking processes & active collaboration with compliance administrators, property managers, assistants, resident managers, superintendents, and external vendors on core functions, including: inspections, attestations, violations, permits, renewals and all other time-sensitive matters pertaining to a growing residential real estate portfolio.
The Compliance Manager is the key liaison to Management Executives (individual property managers) and Resident Managers/Superintendents. They keep their finger on the pulse of regulatory changes, owning team communication and ensuring that all required responses, deadlines, and contracts are smoothly executed throughout the year. They are also the liaison to third-party violations attorneys, attending court hearings and supporting the resolution of outstanding violations and monetary penalties.

Base Responsibilities Include:
- Schedule and lead weekly team meetings with the Compliance Administration team.
- Maintain, update, and distribute an annual compliance calendar.
- Open, sort and scan/distribute mail daily.
- Electronically sign on AKAM's behalf on Department of Building (DOB) filings following Board approval process to limit exposure.
- Tracking and execution of regulatory paperwork and digital filings for the various compliance items ahead of established deadlines.
- Populating and regularly updating compliance spreadsheets to track progress on items.
- Collecting an maintaining useful regulatory agency contacts & reference material.
- Scheduling of required regulatory inspections & walkthroughs.
- Maintain all associated electronic and paper files.
- Process check-requests, online invoices, and electronic payments.
- Coordinate with managers & building staff on completion of building items.
- Coordinate with service vendors, expediters, and attorneys to ensure resolution of building violations and process penalties as required.
- Evaluate & review Compliance Administration team on an annual basis.
- Onboarding & offboarding building compliance from the portfolio.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- I penchant for hospitality and service with a high degree of professionalism.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
- Ability to track multiple projects & meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel Office Suite and SharePoint.
- Able to work independently and be a team player.
- Knowledge of regulatory agencies and protocols preferred.
- Familiarity with DOBNOW, DOB BIS, HPD, LPC, Local Laws
- Familiarity with software including: Yardi, AVID, SiteCompli, & InCheck.
