Location: Onsite in Jacksonville, FL

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5pm

Summary:

The Manager is accountable for leading the staff, offering clear direction and communication in policy, enforcement and process surrounding regulatory and company policy. The Manager will assist the Director in adherence to Hours of Service, regulated by Federal Motor Carrier Regulations for all Landstar motor carriers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading, overseeing daily operations, supporting, and supervising staff while fostering a collaborative environment which promotes safety culture and compliance specific to hours of service
  • Manage Supervisors and staff ensuring that hiring and training is effective as well as continual and provide consistent feedback and guidance
  • Troubleshoot difficult situations that are escalated
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance Afterhours team stay within budget guidelines
  • Address non-compliance of Hours of Service regulations and take immediate action to correct, including but not limited to disqualification of operators lease
  • Identify opportunities for improvement related to team processes, driving efficiencies and productivity as well as record retention and auditing
  • Provide direction to round-the-clock for management and staff outside of direct reports
  • Prepare for internal and external, private and governmental audits; meet with agencies
  • Assist in creating presentations and present to large audiences, including all levels of management
  • Assist Director in the search for vendors and maintain vendor relationships
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Experience and Education:
  • Associates degree (A. A) from a two-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • Two years of transportation industry experience
Preferred Experience and Education:
  • Previous people leadership experience
  • 1 year of experience with FMSCR
  • Managing inbound/outbound call software addressing compliance issues with urgency
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong familiarity with FMCSR; ability to learn and understand regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong track record of meeting deadlines
  • Ability to travel 5-10%
  • Ability to present to large audiences
  • Ability to manage large team, promoting safety culture
