The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG) is seeking candidates for the position of Compliance Specialist 1, Residential Child Care Licensing, (RCCL). This position will be assigned to the closest office of the selected candidate and will require state-wide travel as needed to conduct inspections.

Job Description

Pay Grade: K

Under supervision, the Compliance Specialist 1 reviews applications to determine if a child welfare agency will be granted a license to operate in the state of Georgia. This position may require some statewide and overnight travel. Mileage and overnight stay reimbursement are provided for work-related travel. Mileage reimbursement is not provided for travel from a residence to work.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Point of contact for prospective applicants, responding to inquiries, questions and providing technical assistance.
  • Facilitates provider orientation training for applicants.
  • Conducts a preliminary and full administrative review of policies and procedures.
  • Conducts site visits to determine the applicant's readiness for a license, when necessary.
  • Provides advice and technical assistance to RCCL staff, public and private agencies to discuss areas of noncompliance as well as interpret and clarify policies.
  • Evaluates and inspects residential child care related facilities/agencies regulated by the state to determine compliance with applicable state and/or federal rules and regulations.
  • Serves as committee member for rule revisions and waiver requests.
  • Responsible for processing waiver/variance requests received by RCCL.
  • Reviews and determines approval status of Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI) submissions and applications.
  • Develops, updates and maintains policies and procedures, as assigned.
  • Coordinates special projects, as assigned.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED AND two (2) years of job-related experience.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:
• Possesses a bachelor's or master's degree.
• Experience in reviewing policies and procedures to determine if they are compliant with specified standards.
• Possesses strong communication, writing, organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
• Works independently but also collaboratively with a talented team of professionals.
