POSITION OBJECTIVE: To maintain the integrity of the casino by assisting in the management of compliance and regulatory issues as well as casino-wide policy, procedure, and system of internal controls. JOB SUMMARY: Performs operational, financial, and investigative audits of intermediate complexity; and provides management advisory services. Functions as an objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization, and assists in editing and drafting policies, procedures, and internal controls as necessary. Aids in the administration and application of the NRWC System of Internal Controls, Tribal-State Compact, Title 31 Program and Committee as well as regular maintenance of company-wide policies and procedures. Acts as support for the Safety Specialist in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required skills and knowledge:
  • A.A. Degree relative to regulatory affairs, business administration, business law, accounting, or similar field. Equivalent education or experience may be substituted year for year.
  • Three years of experience directly related to Gaming Regulation or Regulatory Affairs duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies and/or procedures in a manner easily understood.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and balancing procedures.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and Title 31 requirements.
  • Knowledge of NIGC MICS, Tribal-State Compact, NTGC gaming regulations and casino systems of internal controls.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of Casino and/or public auditing policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Intermediate spreadsheet software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, comparisons, impacts and/or projections.
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to keep current knowledge of regulatory and gaming trends in the industry.
  • Willingness to adapt and evolve in a fast-paced gaming environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to safeguard confidential information.
  • Ability to obtain certifications in first aid and food safety.
  • Ability to obtain a Class III Gaming License.
Preferred skills and knowledge:
  • B.A. Degree in related area.
  • Three years of Tribal Gaming regulatory or operations experience.
  • Industry specific certification related to anti-money laundering, regulatory compliance, and regulatory affairs.
  • Working knowledge of food safety, occupational safety, and risk management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time and move from area to area in work locations including kitchen and facilities workshop for audit and inspection tasks.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computer and routine paperwork.
  • Ability to tolerate a smoke-filled environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Performs initial and follow-up audits/inspections in accordance with professional standards.
  • Reviews and maintains the internal audit and inspection programs for all required departments and operations.
  • Aids in the administration and application of the NRWC Title 31 program.
  • Coordinates, interacts, and consults with managers and staff on operational and administrative issues.
  • Keeps abreast of current industry trends and technical pronouncements of applicable gaming and accounting standards as well as changes in local, state, tribal, and federal laws, as applicable.
  • Prepares compliance reports and makes recommendations in the form of oral and written communications.
  • Draft various documents (i.e., standard operating procedures, policies, manuals, and internal controls).
  • Observe gaming activity and investigate compliance issues ensuring any gaming compliance concerns are addressed as quickly as possible.
  • Assists in liaising with Nisqually Tribal Gaming Agency to meet company goals.
  • Survey current business activities and past compliance history to detect potential problem areas.
  • Monitor non-compliance trends in the industry to apply focus and diligence to targeted areas.
  • Implement compliance through Team Member training, program monitoring, and enforcement.
  • Ability to assess situations and make recommendations that meet regulatory objectives while having the least impact on business operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
