How will you make an impact in this role?
The Compliance Testing Manager plays a crucial role in the implementation of an effective Compliance Monitoring and Testing Programme for the two FCA-regulated legal entities in the UK. The role holder will independently assess and provide effective and constructive challenge to support the second line's oversight of the first line's frameworks, policies, processes, and controls.
The Compliance Testing Manager, will assist in the design and delivery of a comprehensive annual testing plan for all Lines of Business and initiatives in the UK - for both the card issuing, and the acquiring business.

Minimum Qualifications
Reporting into the Director for Regulatory Affairs and Testing, the Compliance Testing Manager's duties will include:
- Proactively assist and support the Director for Regulatory Affairs and Testing with the overall design and delivery of a proportionate and risk-based annual Testing Programme, including Outcomes Testing and in conjunction with other team members, to continually identify key regulatory risks applicable to American Express.
- Perform thematic testing reviews and escalate findings to key stakeholders, working with team leaders across the Business to address and mitigate concerns identified in a timely manner.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure actions are tracked to closure appropriately.
- Track, monitor and report on progress of the annual monitoring programme, updating it as appropriate to adapt to the changing environment and risks as appropriate.
- Assist with the identification and assessment of current and future regulatory risks across key areas in compliance monitoring and escalate issues in a timely manner - making recommendations to mitigate those risks where appropriate.
- Make recommendations to improve policies, processes and rules to improve the effectiveness of the controls, identify non-compliance with regulations or policies, identifying gaps in systems, frameworks, policies, processes and controls.
- Keep up to date a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and company policies to identify American Express' legal obligations.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Compliance Testing Manager / Compliance Monitoring Manager, with recent work experience of the UK Credit Card / Payments / Retail Banking industry.
- Experience of Customer Outcomes testing and knowledge of the FCA's Consumer Duty.
- Proven ability to understand wide range of UK legal and regulatory concepts such as Consumer Credit laws & regulations, Consumer Duty, Data Protection, AML & Sanctions, Financial Promotions, and convert them into relevant, practical business requirements and compliance solutions.
- Proven ability to understand complex business systems & processes, and perform value-added testing that cuts across multiple business areas / teams.
- Self-motivated, energetic, collaborative team player with proven ability to work effectively in a matrix international organization and across all levels of management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, delivers clear messaging in a constructive manner and ensures messaging is understood.
- Strong influencing and relationship / stakeholder management skills at all levels of management.
- Strong organizational, time management and prioritisation skills.
