We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Contract and Compliance Manager to join our small but impactful Legal team at our London office. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a challenging and rewarding environment. You will play a crucial role in providing legal support to the Legal team, with a focus on contract work, compliance, risk management, and legal administration.

About the role

The Contract and Compliance Manager will provide administrative and operational support to the Legal team. The role involves assisting with contract review, legal drafting, risk mitigation and legal research.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in law, compliance, and the built environment to grow within a creative and professional setting.
  • Contract Review and Analysis:Review professional service contracts, NDAs, collateral warranties, and novation agreements, advise on legal and commercial risks, make contractual recommendations.
  • Drafting Legal Documents:Prepare subconsultants' agreements, NDAs, collateral warranties, deeds of variation, notices, and letters.
  • Pre-Appointment Compliance Management:Manage pre-appointment compliance processes for suppliers, issue and review competency questionnaires, H&S requirements, request insurance certificates and renewals.
  • Contract Housekeeping:Proactively review contracts, maintain standard contractual documentation, update progress spreadsheets.
  • Legal Research:Conduct research on relevant legal issues and keep up to date with the latest legal developments.
  • Collaboration and Best Practice:Develop good working relationships with colleagues and promote best practice within the team.
About you
  • Minimum LLB, possibly LPC. We welcome applications from non-practicing Legal Executives.
  • Previous experience in a legal, compliance, or project/design management role within architecture, construction, or professional services is a must. Applicants with experience in law firms only will not be considered. (Please note, this role does not lead to a solicitor's training contract).
  • An understanding of contract law. Familiarity with legal terminology and contractual mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 PSC.
  • Awareness of the latest developments in the law.
  • Proficiency in using legal research tools and standard office software applications.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload, manage time efficiently, and remain highly organised.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Collaborative and proactive in supporting the wider team.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and a strong team player.
