Job Description:
The Crude Market Risk Manager is responsible for providing independent assessment of the value and risk within the Europe, East and Derivatives crude trading portfolio. The role provides insight into the level of risk/return in the portfolio and whether this is congruent with the agreed level of risk appetite.
Principal Accountabilities:
The post holder will be a member of the Global Crude Market Risk advisory team; collaborate on new authorized markets and new business proposals; and step in for the Head of Market Risk Advisory when delegated.
Dimensions:
Actively manage and influence resources & processes to optimize the efficient analysis of risk across the portfolio, manage change and prioritize accordingly. Be an end-to-end deal expert understanding risk at all parts during the life of a deal interacting with the functional experts to help identify and suggest remediation to those risks.
Experience and Qualifications:
The candidate must demonstrate a deep understanding of T&S's commodity markets and trading instruments, experience in trading environments, and execution of market risk activities such as forward curves and trading systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines in a dynamic business. A graduate degree in Finance, Legal, Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent practical experience is required.
The successful candidate will oversee daily risk assessment and valuation activities for Shell's Crude Trading organization (T&S) as part of the 2nd line of defence, ensuring controlled and professional execution.

- Conduct independent risk assessments of strategic transactions and crude trading portfolio management.
- Provide risk/reward guidance to maximize financial returns within trading mandate limits.
- Offer risk assessments and insights to senior T&S management in Commercial and Finance areas.
- Determine fair economic valuation (FEV) parameters and ensure accuracy for the crude trading portfolio.
- Lead forward curve development for crude portfolio valuations.
- Identify and maintain risk factor mapping for risk metric calculations.
- Maintain key stakeholder relationships through cross-functional forums like Risk Committees.
