Overview

Provides strong compliance support to internal business partners. Ensures timely and accurate problem resolution while mitigating risk exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks and sorts pending legislative and regulatory developments at federal, state, local level in the employment law space, i.e., wage/hour, anti-discrimination, paid leaves, labor, pay equity, immigration, etc. and provides monthly metrics utilizing excel.
  • Facilitates collaboration with team member to ensure timely review and development of digestible summaries of those legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Monitors employment law landscape to identify and provide summaries on significant trends, developments, activity.
  • May review and recommend changes to internal/external communications, advertising, marketing, and training materials, to ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and/or accuracy with client facing HR-related product/services.
  • May represent the company in the delivery of external webinars on employment laws and impacts on employers.
  • Conducts research on complex compliance risk-centric issues impacting Paychex products and services, including proactive identification of regulatory and legislative developments which may provide business opportunity or challenges to the company, to support stakeholders in strategic business decisions. Recommends changes to products or services based on research and analysis.
  • Develops and maintains constructive, influential relationships with internal and external business partners to ensure compliance needs are properly communicated and executed, as well as to minimize impact/cost of compliance to Paychex. Takes a leadership role in the management of the companys relationships with external regulators and agencies, vendors, and other key parties. May represent the company as needed on industry groups/coalitions.
  • Assesses compliance implications of potential acquisitions, new products and product enhancements, advertising/marketing/training materials, and other corporate strategic initiatives to ensure compliance objectives are achieved.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on assigned Paychex products and services, including laws/regulations, enacted and proposed legislation, official guidance, trends, and industry best practices applicable to assigned area of responsibility. Partners with and makes recommendations to Compliance leadership and business management to ensure compliance with pertinent federal, state, local, and international regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Participates and/or leads complex compliance projects and engages business partners for participation, as needed, to support strategic business initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Compliance leadership team to support the formulation of department policies, strategic plans, and standards in carrying out the objectives of the Paychex Compliance function.
  • Provides actionable, comprehensive risk analysis on complex regulatory and other compliance matters to internal partners where necessary and as requested. Proactively prepares regular gap and other needs-based analysis and provides risk mitigation measures relative to Paychex products and services to provide risk mitigation measures.
  • Creates opportunities for business partner continuous learning through compliance alerts, weekly letters, webinars, training sessions, and newsletters.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the general purpose of the positions function.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (concentration/significant coursework in HR Management, Legal Studies, Compliance or related area of study) - Preferred
  • Advanced Degree with concentration/experience in labor and employment laws - Preferred
  • 4 years of experience in HR Management applying federal/state employment laws and/or reviewing reviewing federal/state legislation - Preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, OneNote, SharePoint and legislative research tools - Required
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills - Required (A writing sample may be requested)
  • SHRM Certification - Preferred

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $69,930 - $109,890. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
