Location: The Valleys Innovation Centre, Abercynon /Agile working

With the Council's commitment to mitigating the impact of climate change and delivering its carbon reduction targets, we are now looking to recruit an Energy Compliance Officer. This role is based within the Energy & Carbon Reduction Team, to help us deliver and maintain the Council's statutory obligations for our operational energy commitments.

Under the guidance of the Energy & Carbon Reduction Manager (ECRM), the post holder will be required assist in the implementation of the Council's Carbon Management Programme and participate in the delivery of the Council's Corporate Energy Management Strategy and Carbon Reduction Commitments.

The post holder will, following a period of initial 'systems training', be required to assist the Team with the production and maintenance of energy data. As well as provide help in a profiling role for both 'Energy Management' purposes, and to inform the planning of the Council's 'Carbon Reduction Programme'. Whilst providing data and/or assistance to the wider team, in the production of Display Energy Certification.

Duties will include assisting with budget monitoring of the energy/carbon reduction projects funded from the Carbon Reduction Programme and other funding sources. The identification of and application for / of grant aid funding for projects and initiatives in liaison with the team, together with the management of data to inform the statutory and internal reporting processes, and to inform plans for future stages of the 'Carbon Reduction Programme'.

Candidates will need to be problem solvers and have the ambition to achieve challenging targets. The post will involve liaising with people at all levels within the Council, as well as with external agencies / individuals and officials from Welsh Government.

You will need to be able to act with diplomacy in sensitive subject areas and/or circumstances, an effective communicator and be able to respond flexibly to changing demands and priorities.

The hours of work are 37 per week, based on a hybrid working strategy under the Council's scheme for flexible working hours scheme.

The post will be based within the Corporate Estates Team at the Valleys Innovation Centre in Abercynon.
