The Ethics and Compliance Manager- CA is responsible for managing the implementation of City of Hope's Ethics and Compliance program for the California region of the City of Hope enterprise and provides backup to the System Director, Site Compliance in managing the site compliance program. Responsibilities include overseeing compliance activities of COH entities within the California region to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and COH policies. The incumbent serves as a resource to COH faculty and staff and provides an essential local compliance presence within their designated geographic area to ensure a consistent approach to all matters related to ethics and compliance. The incumbent will support all compliance department functions through project work from the annual compliance workplan.

As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Manages the implementation of COH's Ethics and Compliance program for locations within the California region. Implements and monitors COH policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and requirements including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, Stark and AKS, federal and state privacy regulations such as HIPAA, as well as all CMS, HHS and OIG regulations. Prepares compliance reports that are to be presented to executive leadership by the System Director, Site Compliance, System Chief Privacy Officer and/or System Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer
  • Provides on-site and virtual compliance education in-line with enterprise objectives for the California region in accordance with local needs and enterprise-wide priorities, including educating employees on City of Hope Code of Conduct, ethics and compliance policies, compliance workplan, and privacy workplan.
  • Works closely with the regional leadership to evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of the ethics and compliance program. Actively participate in committees as assigned. The incumbent will be an active participant in all system ethics and compliance team meetings and work groups to facilitate system ethics and compliance initiatives.
  • Serves as the leadership backup to the System Director, Site Compliance in overseeing the enterprise-wide site compliance program.
  • Ensures compliance with all compliance and privacy related policies. The incumbent investigates reports of alleged violations of company compliance policies and Code of Conduct, whether raised through the Compliance Hotline or otherwise, implements corrective action plans, and ensures that appropriate enforcement action is taken. The incumbent ensures all matters are tracked in the appropriate matter tracking system.
  • Tracks laws and regulations applicable to the organization and works with other members of the system ethics and compliance team to draft and update system risk assessments and work plans. Assists with coordination and follow up on system compliance audit and monitoring activities. Contributes to system policies and training as appropriate. Monitors assigned locations for known risk areas and reports to the System Director, Site Compliance, as appropriate.
Your qualifications should include:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8-10 years' experience in health care compliance or a related healthcare field.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or equivalent strongly preferred.
