Description

Basic Function: The Global Compliance Manager is responsible for development, oversight and management of WireMasters' compliance policies, procedures and strategies, leading to operational compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Global Compliance Manager will work with all WireMasters' stakeholders to mitigate compliance risks, safeguard the reputation of our organization, and support our company goals for growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operational processes for assuring trade compliance review and approval relating to export licensing, technical data exchange, technology control plans, foreign travel, foreign visits, re-exports, retransfers and export and import shipments under UK, EU, US, and other applicable laws.
  • Develop and update export policies and guidelines as needed to detect, mitigate, and/or prevent risk. Review, update, and implement comprehensive export compliance procedures and forms to drive the WM's overall compliance with export laws and regulations.
  • Ensure the business sites are in compliance with all denied party screening and country sanctions/embargo policies.
  • Create and manage metrics and KPIs in support of WM compliance and overall company goals and objectives.
  • Ensure WM sales and fulfillment operations are compliant with government regulations such as International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Identify and train individuals at each operating site of WM to act in a dual role consisting in part of being an International Logistics Coordinator.
  • Act as "Empowered Official" for ITAR/DDTC and SAM registrations.
  • Classify articles and materials sold, imported, and exported by WM through working with suppliers, customers, product management, and sales personnel.
  • Leads investigations regarding compliance requirements and acts as a liaison with government bodies including, Commerce and State Departments. Assesses feasibility of programs with implementation requirements, establishes rollout plan, and initiates program execution.
  • Interface with WM management and other stakeholders to ensure processes are in place and working such that we maintain compliance with ITAR, EAR, and export compliance processes.
  • Work with the functional departments to ensure export compliance requirements are published and adopted at all levels of the business.
  • Identifies opportunities to secure duty refunds and take advantage of duty saving programs (self-classification, CCATS).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including WM Management, procurement, sales, and legal, to review potential contract terms and conditions, against applicable legal requirements, and industry standards. Conduct thorough contract risk assessments and provide guidance to stakeholders on compliance risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain records for correspondence and documentation in relation to compliance filings and any related recurring established contracts and those in progress.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards relating to the Export Administration Regulations, the Arms Export Control Act, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, REACH, RoHS, PFAS, Conflict Minerals, Human Trafficking, Etc. and proactively communicate any changes or updates to internal teams.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance on export regulations. Serve as a point of contact for advice, resources, education, and coordination of export compliance. Communicate clearly with business and functional personnel on export-related matters.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees on international trade compliance regulations, product certifications, and quality control processes. Communicate procedural changes via email, through training, and other communication vehicles.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in US export compliance. Proven experience in compliance, or related roles, preferably within the distribution of Milspec wire, cable, and connectors. Experience in international import/export compliance is preferable.
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, International Trade, Business administration, Supply chain management, or a related field. Consideration is given for equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the aerospace and defense industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Milspec requirements, industry standards, and relevant regulations, such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-DTL-38999, EAR, and ITAR.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and training programs specific to the Milspec industry.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of stakeholders. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and multiple business applications.
  • In compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, Global Compliance Manager must be a U.S. Person, as defined, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
  • Experience with people leadership is preferred.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
