Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is now recruiting for a Head of Regulatory Compliance (HoRC) to join our Quality team where you'll support us by developing, implementing and maintaining safety management system (SMS) and ensure compliance in accordance with the regulatory requirements. This role will be based at our Cheltenham site.

The Role:

The Role:

Primary responsibilities include:
- Create, implement, establish, monitor and maintain the SMS (UK CAA, EASA, FAA and CAAC). This will involve collaborating with key stakeholders such as the Quality Compliance Director (QCD), Accountable Manager and SMT.
- Provide periodic reports on safety performance.
- Maintain safety documentation with the HoIMSC.
- Plan and organise staff safety training.
- Facilitate the risk management process that should include hazard identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation (Bowties).
- Provide independent advice on safety matters to all staff (NOE, MOR etc.)
- Advise Senior Managers and Line Managers on safety matters.
- Oversee hazard identification systems, including the effectiveness of previous safety recommendations, and safety promotion.
- Be involved in occurrence/accident investigations.
- Manage SAG meeting once per month.
- Oversee operational safety.
- Resolve identified risks.
- Assess the impact on safety of operational changes.
- Implement and monitor corrective action plans and ensures that corrective action is achieved within agreed timescales.
- Ensure the integrity of the SMS is maintained when changes to the IMS are being planned. Ensure the management of change procedure is used when required, be the SMS change management expert to support the changes, ensure this is fully documented and that any IMS changes are audited once the change has been implemented.
- Communicate the importance of meeting the SMS and the need for continual improvement throughout the organisation. Use all media platforms to get this message out to the business i.e. Runway, All Hands, Take Off, Climb, Altitude, Management Meetings etc.
- Maintain the departmental management of product safety risks to the organisation. Manage the identified Risks and determine if the controls are suitable to maintain product safety, where required, work with departments to help reduce any high-risk areas.
- Lead and Host Regulatory and Standards Audits. Consult with the auditors, ensure the business is aware and ready for the audits, manage the audits with the auditors, ensure any findings are understood and actioned within the authorities' required timescales.
- Manage the Technical Training compliance database (once approved). Ensure new training requirements are reviewed and implemented. Work with Global training on future training contracts and delivery methods.
- Manage Part 21G and all regulatory authority Part 145 compliance matters. Ensure ROW expositions are being updated in line with any changes, working with the HoIMSC.
- Being the subject matter expert on Civil Aviation Authority matters and flowing down the regulatory requirements to business. Review the monthly regulatory check and ensure the Business actions regulatory requirements, support any regulatory compliance training that is required and lead any improvement and automation training if required.

To be successful in this role, the following attributes will be required:
- An Engineering background with High level educational standards.
- Multiple IMS Qualifications including Lead Auditor to the ISO9001/AS9100 standard.
- Expert knowledge of other regulations and standards would be beneficial i.e. Part 21G, Part 145, ISO 14001, 22301, 27001, 45001 etc.
- High level analytical and problem-solving CAPA skills.
- Effective and accurate use of MS Office applications and ERP systems.
- Able to produce clear, concise, accurate written and verbal communications (in English) at all levels.
- Effective listening and negotiating skills.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to consider wider business implications when considering options and making decisions.
- Able to manage a team and be able to train them with external and internal courses and be willing to share experience and skills and promote the development of team members.
- Able to work outside core hours and be flexible to react to the business priorities.
- Able to regularly travel internationally when required.
