Job description

The opportunity

You will be a key member of our UAL Awarding Body team, who design and award creative qualifications to over 70,000 students across 300 centres in the UK and worldwide. The UAL Awarding Body is supported by our Quality Assurance and Enhancement team (QAE), who provide expert advice and support relating to Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance.

As an Information Compliance Manager, you will work closely to support colleagues across the awarding body, providing expert advice on information management practice and compliance, including within the context of GDPR. You will conduct an annual GDPR audit and self-evaluation of UAL's records management requirements, producing comprehensive reports to inform future practice and enhancements.

In addition to this, you will:

  • Develop a working knowledge of data compliance legislation, ensuring all data is managed in accordance with legal and University requirements
  • Contribute to the QAE Management team advising on information management practice and compliance
  • Manage the risk register for the Head of QAE and provide support to the risk reporting process across UAL Awarding Body
  • Manage FOI requests, DSARs and DPIAs
You will also provide support to the Awarding Body Local Information Manager (LIM) and Information Asset Owner, representing the LIM when required.

About you

We are looking for a well-organised individual, with excellent persuasion and negotiation skills and experience of identifying and managing risk.

You will demonstrate an understanding of GDPR legislation, principles and implementation of data protection measures, including Data Subject Access Requests and the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

Strong engagement, persuasion, communication skills and the ability to present complex technical regulatory information and data to varied audiences is essential.

You will employ a creative solution focused approach to accommodate business demands whilst ensuring regulatory compliance advocating the benefits of legislation and compliance rather than the constraints.

We operate a fair and open anonymous selection process. Thus, you will need to create an account and submit an application through our job board. As part of this, you will need to provide a supporting statement to demonstrate your suitability. Our recruitment process involves: Application, Shortlisting , Onboarding.

We understand the benefits of using AI in work. But, if you are thinking of using it to submit an application, we ask you to think about what value it adds.
