The Role

We are recruiting an Internal Audit Manager here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative Strategy & Operations team.

The Finance, Assurance, Compliance & Transformation Team supports wider Justice Digital in managing its financial processes and tracking spend. We are responsible for centralised responses to commissions (requests for information) both internal and external to the MoJ, as well as working closely with the Justice Digital Senior Leadership Team to maximise opportunities to deliver on our strategic objectives. We also work with the Cabinet Office and the Central Digital & Data Office to ensure that all spending is compliant with cross-government standards and controls and that we adhere to MoJ and cross-government standards.

The Digital Compliance Team supports Justice Digital and the wider Ministry of Justice in providing a consistent approach to Digital & Technology delivery.

The team is comprised of four functions,
  • Business Continuity - the Business Continuity Team is in place to help delivery teams to build, test, and obtain sign off for their business continuity plans.
  • Audit - the Audit Team provides a service to Justice Digital, providing a consistent response to external audit requests and ensuring Justice Digital is running as efficiently as possible.
  • Digital Assurance - the Digital Assurance Team provides an interface between CDDO & Justice Digital and manages all Digital & Technology Spend Approval for the whole of the Ministry of Justice.
  • Standards - the Standards Team provide a one stop shop for Justice Digital on Government functional, digital and technology standards, ensuring that all digital and technology standards are applied consistently.

About the role:

Improving assurance services is the primary objective of any internal auditing department. The Internal Audit Manager will play a key role in improving the governance, risk management and control services within Justice Digital, by providing objective, risk-based assessments on key areas within the wider department.

The successful candidate will support the creation and implementation of a defined digital audit strategy for Justice Digital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for planning and delivering internal audit services within Justice Digital.
  • Accountable for providing internal audit reports and communicating key findings to senior sponsors.
  • Responsible for delivering services in accordance with internal audit standards and principles.
  • Planning and conducting audit engagements linked to strategic objectives or risks to the department.
  • Supporting the Lead Auditor in developing and delivering against the Digital Audit Strategy and Internal Audit Plan.
  • Oversee the implementation of professional internal audit standards and principles within the Digital Audit Team.
  • Providing Management Assurance related to the Digital Audit Team objectives, including driving the completion of corrective action plans.
  • Improving the governance, risk management and control practices within Justice Digital.
  • Represent the Digital Compliance Team at relevant stakeholder events, including speaking engagements and workshops.
  • Proactively develop areas of sectoral and technical expertise, ensuring that engagements benefit from the latest guidance and best practice.
  • Support Justice Digital's values, strategy and business plan, and the development of Good Practice products and services, by undertaking and sharing relevant research and intelligence.
  • Maintain corporate and departmental records management standards including the timely and accurate filing of documents and correspondence, and the completion of relevant logs and plans designed to monitor department activities.
  • Comply with the MoJ's information governance policies and procedures and in particular those relating to information security.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience in Internal Audit or a similar analytical function with experience in using data analytics and agile techniques
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective decision making and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to create bespoke reports and deliver recommendations to Senior Leaders.
Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for BPSS clearance

Successful candidates who meet the required standard will then be invited to a 1-hour panel interview held via video conference.

Should we receive a high volume of applications, a pre-sift based on your experience in Internal Audit or a similar analytical function with experience in using data analytics and agile techniques will be conducted before the sift.
