Up to £55,000 per annum + up to 10% Stakeholders Bonus

35 Hours per week

MAIN PURPOSE:

To develop and implement the Brainkind Internal Audit plan, with a focus on improving the control design and operational effectiveness of controls over key operational risk areas.

To be responsible for advising on both strategic and operational risk exposure and use this knowledge to facilitate informed decision making and develop and contain a comprehensive view of risk-taking activities to support the organisation to embed and enhance their risk processes within day-to-day operational practice.

To plan, perform and communicate risk-based audit reviews of financial, operational, commercial and reputational compliance. Providing cost-effective recommendations to mitigate the risks and control weaknesses identified during the audit review process.

To manage and maintain the corporate risk register and ensure that operational department's risk registers are regularly reviewed, updated and reported upwards.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead on developing, agreeing and managing the agreed organisational Internal Audit plan.
• Prepare clear and concise audit reports summarising audit findings, recommendations, and management responses. Present audit results to management and the audit committee. Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Continually analyse, challenge, develop, implement and manage Brainkind's enterprise risk management framework programme and associated projects linked with implementation of systems to improve any risks which may cause harm to Brainkind, it's employees or people we support.
• Develop and improve the risk register process, track the progress of the implementation of action plans to address key risks in the corporate risk register and ensure accurate reporting to the Senior & Executive Leadership Team and our Trustees.
• Collaborate with other departments to facilitate effective risk management and internal controls across the business.
• Engage with key stakeholders and key projects across the organisation to ensure risks are considered and appropriately mitigated.
• Keep up to date with industry risk and control issues, as well as emerging trends, best practices and developments in the wider auditing and risk industry.
• Mature and develop the risk appetite and risk framework within Brainkind, to influence, guide, advise and implement risk mitigation, working in partnership with Senior Leadership Team and department and service managers across Brainkind to ensure risk management becomes fully embedded.
• Prepare clear and concise audit reports summarizing audit findings, recommendations, and management responses. Present audit results to management and the audit committee. Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Build strong relationships with peers and actively become involved in new developments affecting all departments and to implement any changes in procedures deemed necessary.
• Identify, facilitate and implement process improvement opportunities.
• Evaluate and monitor business operations to ensure compliance with Brainkind's internal controls, applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
• Ensure regular risk meetings are scheduled to ensure all key stakeholders are fully engaged and involved with risk and internal audit opportunities and have access to relevant training and support.
• Travel to Brainkind's various locations to deliver training and meet with operational managers across the UK as and when required.

Any other reasonable duties that fall within the role as directed by the Head of Legal & Compliance

About You
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant subject.
• Relevant experience of working in an enterprise risk management and internal audit role within a health or social care setting.
• Proven experience in a combination of auditing, compliance and enterprise risk management frameworks, using a number of different tools and systems.
• Relevant experience of working in an enterprise risk management and internal audit role within a health or social care setting.
• Solid understanding of internal controls, audit protocols, enterprise risk management frameworks, policies and procedures.
• Pragmatic, organised, flexible, confident in front of a senior audience, with strong time management skills and the ability to change focus at short notice.
• Full driving licence with the ability to meet the travelling requirements of the post.
