Employment type:Full time, fixed term apprenticeship (2.5 years).
Salary: £22,000

As a Risk and Compliance Apprentice, you will be supporting the Risk & Compliance Teamin managing and mitigating risks that could effect the company's operations. You will assist with risk assessments, monitoring risk exposure, preparing reports, and implementing risk management strategies. Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Risk Identification & Assessment: Assist in identifying and evaluating operational risks across various business units and functions.
- Data Analysis: Help analyse risk data and trends to provide insights on potential vulnerabilities.
- Risk Reporting: Support in preparing regular risk reports and presentations for management, highlighting key risks and mitigation actions.
- Control Testing: Participate in testing and reviewing operational controls to ensure they are effective in mitigating identified risks.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with teams to suggest improvements in operational processes to reduce risk exposure.
- Compliance & Regulatory Support: Assist in ensuring that the company complies with relevant regulations, policies, and risk management frameworks.
- Training and Development: Learn about risk management tools, systems, and methodologies used within the organisation. Attend training sessions to develop your knowledge and skills in operational risk.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with various teams such as compliance, audit, finance, and IT to gather information and assess operational risks.
- To carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required.
You will be required to:
- Attend scheduled training sessions and workshops to gain knowledge and practical skills relevant to Financial Services, and the wider Mortgage & Savings areas.
- Engage in independent learning through online courses, textbooks, and other educational resources to supplement formal instruction.
- Complete assignments and projects that demonstrate understanding and application of relevant concepts.
- Participate in study groups and discussions to enhance collaborative learning and problem-solving abilities.
- Regularly consult with mentors and supervisors to receive feedback and guidance on technical and professional development.
Qualifications & Knowledge
- A degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject, or
- ICA Advanced Certificate in compliance (International or UK), or
- Three Years' relevant work experience
- Using initiative, making informed judgements and taking personal responsibility is essential.
- Interest in Risk Management: A keen interest in understanding risk frameworks, business processes, and how risks affect organisations
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and present findings clearly.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail when reviewing processes, reports, and identifying potential risks.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with different departments and report findings
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- IT Proficiency: Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of risk management software is a plus.
- Problem-solving mindset: Ability to approach challenges proactively and suggest solutions
- Adaptability: Open to learning new concepts and adjusting to a dynamic work environment.
