WPP is creating an exciting new UK Indirect Tax Manager role as we build Indirect Tax Compliance expertise in our Global Business Services organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to become a highly valued member of the team with exposure across the whole business.

This is a brand-new role focusing on driving transformation at WPP by enhancing VAT processes to increase controls and automation, embedding best practice to manage VAT risk and minimise errors, and advising on the VAT treatment of business transactions. In this role you will join a newly formed team, created to take on the UK VAT compliance process for our UK based agencies. Being part of the team at the start of this journey is your chance to contribute to establishing best practice to support UK VAT reporting.

Experience in preparing UK VAT returns is necessary, but in addition to that we are looking for individuals with an interest in delivering quality work, with a curiosity for getting into the detail of data and resolving queries, along with a sense of commercial awareness and a desire to develop their knowledge.

In return you will develop your UK VAT knowledge deeper, collaborate with colleagues in the Global Business Services in the UK and India in ensuring transactions meet VAT reporting requirements, gain experience working with a variety of finance applications and a Big 4 developed VAT return tool, and be part of a new team created to support VAT compliance process for multiple agencies.

What you'll be doing:
  • Accurate preparation of UK VAT returns within required timeframes for multiple VAT registrations, following standard operating procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional support to multiple UK agencies, building relationships and representing the VAT compliance team as a reliable service provider.
  • Work with local Finance teams to build Indirect Tax calendar of filings, maintaining database of historic filing data, and keeping updated with VAT return filing and payment info.
  • Calculating monthly accruals and reconciliation of indirect tax accounts to VAT return.
  • Handle and respond to requests from the UK VAT Compliance Senior Manager and help with tax audits including analysing various transactions and gathering of requested data.
  • Assist Indirect Tax Senior Manager with required registrations for all UK companies.
  • Support UK VAT Senior Manager with ad-hoc projects and analysis as directed.
What you'll need:
  • Experience in UK indirect tax and compliance.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyse large volumes of data.
