Job Description:

Non-operated joint ventures (NOJVs) play a critical role in bp's growth and leadership in the energy industry. We currently work with circa 360 NOJVs; they are an integral part of our business model, representing 40% of all bp's production.

As, NOJV Enterprise Risk Senior Manager, you'll be responsible for setting and verifying requirements, guidance, and tools for bp-wide NOJV Enterprise Risk Management. You will coach, train, and support delivery of risk management including co-ordinating risk management for prospective NOJVs.

This role is location agnostic; but needs to be based out in a time-zone that is convenient for working with the bp businesses supported.

Role requirements
  • Own the NOJV Risk Management Procedure, NOJV Risk Management Guide, and NOJV Responding, Reporting & Reviewing Guide.
  • Own the NOJV Barometer, Risk & HSE&C input to the NOJV EVP Dashboard, Secondee Deployment Questionnaire and NOJV Incident reporting tool.
  • First point of contact on HSE&C and risk management for prospective NOJVs.
  • Continuous improvement projects and reactive location-specific support
  • Chair a NOJV Risk Process Owner community of practice to provide a forum for discussing and tracking HSE&C and risk issues, actions and implementations of lessons learned. Owner of the RPO training pathway on Grow@bp.
  • Liaise with HSE&C Risk, Systems & Learning team to align software tools, procedures and guidelines with NOJV specific requirements.
  • Create NOJV templates used for EVP/SVP risk reviews and align with HSE&C risk team. Guide NOJV HSE&C Managers on use and review of material.
  • Deliver special projects e.g. support Ethics & Compliance and Digital Security to implement E&C and Cyber Security risk management programmes.
  • Build capability for the long term by providing induction, training and feedback.
  • Identify emerging talent in the RPO community and involve them in development projects and stretch opportunities to grow the next generation of NOJV leaders.
  • Hold businesses to account to deliver effective NOJV exposure risk management.
  • Liaise, present and update to relevant key leaders eg. SVP Risk and Insurance, SVP Regions, EVP RC&S etc.
  • Be the visible authority for all matters relating to NOJV risk management.
  • Develop a 3-year strategy for NOJV risk management focussed on simplification and greater effectiveness.
  • Plan upgrades to software tools, procedures and guides. Deliver within the constraints of available NOJV resources and expertise set by the organisation.
  • Help, support, and guide teams in delivery of risk assessments, encouraging proper consideration of risks in decision making, including Resource Commitment Meeting decisions of $250m+.
Essential candidate and requirements

Extensive risk management experience: deep experience in management of inherent risk is crucial. Experience of exposure risk is desirable.

HSE&C performance management: Demonstrable experience of using data to drive and improve performance improvement across several locations.

Experience of developing and implementing safety management systems.

Excellent relationship skills to influence the NOJV/operator. Demonstrate extensive experience influencing across multiple stakeholders, including indirect leadership. Able to develop strong connections and build capability.

Experience in leading communities of practice.
