The aim of the operational risk team is to enable the responsible and commercial development of Investec Bank PLC by promoting sound management of operational risk through learning, co-development and engagement. We are a team of 13 risk managers, spread across London, Reading, Guernsey, Mumbai, Dublin and Zurich, who regularly engage as a team and with various stakeholders across the whole bank. Our day-to-day activities involve regular collaboration regarding new products & initiatives, material outsourcing arrangements, internal and external risk events, understanding operational risk inherent to the business and facilitating scenario analysis to enable proactive identification and management of risk.

IBP Operational Risk is looking for an individual with a sound understanding of Private and Transactional Banking products and services to help the 2LOD OR team adequately monitor and challenge the Operational Risks. The role provides a great opportunity to get involved in a different products and initiatives in Private Bank, Transactional Banking and Third Party Management and will engage with stakeholders across all levels in the organisation.

What will I be doing?

The role is responsible for oversight of the implementation of the Operational Risk Framework which includes
  • Facilitation of risk assessments with business units and support functions, including full end to end transaction lifecycle reviews.
  • Timely capture and review of operational risk events, with appropriate escalation and root cause trend analysis.
  • Manage the scenario analysis process which feeds into the Bank's ICAAP.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of thematic reviews based on external events or cross IBP events.
  • Promote operational risk awareness and conduct training for all employees.
  • Compile risk governance forums reports to highlight key risks and events.
  • Participation in Operational Risk forums and working groups.
  • Review and participate in the approval forums for new products, businesses and projects.
What are we looking for?

Technical knowledge:
  • Thorough understanding of risks and controls within a financial services company. Ability to advise on appropriate controls and risk mitigation
  • Knowledge of Regulatory risks and Risk management in Financial Institutions
  • Detailed knowledge of operational risk management methodologies and principles
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Skills and how they are applied
  • Communication - engage with a wide range of colleagues and articulately discuss / write report on various issue (verbal / written / presentation)
  • Challenge - ability to challenge multiple SMEs and management on a wide range of topics and risks
  • Attention to detail - to pick up on errors and produce accurate work, with strong analytical capability
  • Organised - work to multiple deadlines yet maintain flexibility through the workday
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • To act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly
