A Compliance Analyst establishes and implements quality control policies and compliance procedures that align with industry standards. They coordinate and manage product safety testing for high-risk items, performing thorough inspections, including visual checks, measurements, and functional testing to identify defects or deviations from specifications. Additionally, the analyst serves as a subject matter expert on compliance-related matters.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement the company's compliance and internal inspection program by staying current on relevant rules and regulations and effectively communicating compliance requirements to the product development team and other departments.
• Manage and coordinate all product testing for imported goods, including communication with vendors on required submissions to third-party labs and overseeing sample shipping. Provide testing results to vendors and Buyers and keep relevant teams informed on testing timelines.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards by conducting regular audits, maintaining accurate records of tests and quality metrics, and overseeing precise product labeling.
• Oversee new product samples with Product Development Team, to identify any potential compliance issues and provide recommendations.
• Act as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies (e.g., CPSC, CBP, FDA) on compliance and safety testing inquiries and provide requested documents and certificates to external stakeholders, including those related to the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), retailers, customers, and vendors.
• Lead annual product recall simulations as the Facility Product Recall Coordinator, preparing reports for management and regulatory bodies, and managing communication with leadership and stakeholders during actual recalls, including quarantining affected products and notifying agencies as necessary.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for continuous improvement by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quality data to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
• Inspect received products for compliance with PMall and regulatory standards, verifying packaging, color, and material composition, and summarize expectations and results for stakeholders.
• Manage and review product remakes and customer complaints, providing feedback on customer inquiries and concerns with support from Customer Service and Management as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors Degree, or equivalent on-the-job experience • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or equivalent
• Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement standards, U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP),
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Proposition 65 (Prop 65) and any other Federal State and City regulations.
• Individuals who are Preventive Control Qualified Individuals (PCQI's), Global Food Safety Initiative Certified Individuals (GFSI), Hazard Acceptance Critical Control (HACCP) Certified individuals qualify for the role
• 3+ years compliance experience
Skills:
• A keen eye for spotting defects and discrepancies
• Ability to analyze data and identify root causes of quality issues
• Ability to convey findings and recommendations clearly
• Must be dependable, possess an extreme attention to detail, and have excellent production and communication skills.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
• Highly organized with ability to work with minimal supervision
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to sit at a computer for an extended period. Light to moderate lifting may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Ability to perform daily product inspections in warehouse; light to moderate lifting and walking is required.
• During the holiday seasons, time off is limited.
