PayDo is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our growing team in London. This role is crucial in ensuring our business operates within the complex and evolving landscape of financial regulations, particularly those set by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of FCA regulations, a proven track record of implementing and maintaining effective compliance programs, and a passion for navigating the regulatory compliance of an EMI company.

Your regular tasks
  • Regulatory Reporting & Compliance Oversight
    • Act as a key stakeholder in maintaining the regulatory reporting schedule to the FCA and other relevant authorities
    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of regulatory reports, including those related to capital adequacy, safeguarding, and operational resilience
  • FCA Compliance & EMI-Specific Obligations
    • Maintain and enforce compliance with FCA regulations applicable to Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs)
    • Stay updated on changes to the FCA Handbook and other EMI-relevant legislation, ensuring PayDoremains compliant
  • Risk & AML Compliance Development
    • Support the Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) function and contribute to regulatory compliance strategy growth
    • Assist in reviewing AML frameworks, policies, and risk assessments in line with FCA and external AML audit expectations
  • Consumer Protection & Data Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with Consumer Duty requirements, including Fair Value Assessments and customer outcome monitoring
    • Oversee PayDo's adherence to GDPR and data protection regulations, implementing necessary controls
  • Regulatory & External Audit Coordination
    • Support FCA and external AML audit processes, ensuring PayDo meets all compliance expectations
    • Collaborate with auditors and regulators, acting as a point of contact for compliance-related inquiries
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Internal Advisory
    • Provide regulatory guidance to internal teams, ensuring compliance is integrated into business processes
    • Liaise with senior management, risk, finance, and operations teams to align regulatory obligations with business strategy
  • Advancing Regulatory Expertise & Governance
    • Leverage previous FCA appointments (if applicable) to strengthen PayDo's compliance position
    • Contribute to corporate governance initiatives, fostering a strong compliance culture within PayDo
Skills and qualifications
  • 3+ years of direct experience working within an EMI environment in a Regulatory Compliance role
  • Understanding of the UK financial regulatory environment, including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and its rules and regulations
  • Expertise in the FCA Handbook, particularly sections relevant to EMIs, payment services, and financial crime
  • Understanding of UK AML/CTF regulations, including Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds
  • Solid knowledge of the FCA's Consumer Duty, including requirements for Fair Value Assessments, customer outcome monitoring, and vulnerable customer treatment
  • Awareness of various financial crime risks, including fraud, bribery, and corruption
  • Proven ability to prepare and submit accurate and timely regulatory reports to the FCA and other relevant authorities
  • Strong grasp of UK GDPR and data protection legislation, including practical experience of implementation and compliance
  • Russian/Ukrainian language skills are beneficial
