General Statement of Duties
The Residency Compliance Officer is a 260-days, 8 hours per day position. Starting salary is $57,646.08 or based on the promotion policy for internal candidates. (NOTE: Salary may be prorated depending on employment start date.)

Essential Duties
Conducts extensive residency investigations using a variety of investigative software and databases to verify information.
Performs detailed field investigations, which includes home visits and daily surveillance operations.
Maintains daily case notes and document findings with supporting evidence.
Conducts prompt, thorough, effective, and objective investigations while ensuring all procedural and evidentiary requirements are met.
Collaborates with school officials, Educational Specialist for Residency Compliance, School Social Work Department, schools, and community resources to verify information about students.
Submits updates to the Educational Specialist for Residency Compliance as requested.
Conducts residency investigations of students when the department receives allegations that a student(s) is not residing where reported. Provides
residency verification information to school officials regarding students attending Henrico County Public Schools.
Possesses case management skills, including the proper planning and implementation of investigations while prioritizing their caseload.
Possesses knowledge of effective investigative techniques and tactics, while ensuring their safety throughout the evidence gathering process.
Ability to ascertain and cross-exam information obtained to reach an appropriate conclusion and disposition.
Defends the validity of their case findings throughout all subsequent procedures. For example, if a parent/legal guardian requests a residency hearing.
Works autonomously using independent decision-making skills under general supervision within established procedures and division objectives.
Works independently during non-typical school hours. Must be able to work unsupervised and independently.
Utilizes considerable judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills to accomplish duties.
Performs all clerical duties associated with position.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree required. Knowledge of current state law and School Board policies regulating residency and local community resources. Experience conducting surveillance and investigations, word processing, computer skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and a valid Virginia driver's license are required. Education, training, and experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform essential duties.
Previous registrar and/or residency compliance officer experience preferred.
