At Lothian Pension Fund (LPF), we administer the local government pension scheme (LGPS) in Edinburgh and the Lothians and are one of approximately a hundred LGPS funds in the UK. We're an asset-backed and multi-employer scheme with around £10 billion of assets and the second largest LGPS fund in Scotland, serving approximately 88,900 members and 59 active employers.

We are advertising for a Risk & Compliance Manager on a Fixed Term Contract basis (12 months) and we'd love to hear from you if you have an interest in working in this area and meet the role requirements detailed below.

The Role

The Risk & Compliance Manager will be highly flexible and will contribute to the development, embedding and facilitation of an appropriate and robust risk management and assurance framework across LPF. The role will also ensure appropriate oversight activities are undertaken to provide assurance on LPF's compliance with regulatory, client and internal requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the R&C team and will collaborate with colleagues across the business.

Key responsible for this role include:

  • Presenting, developing and maintaining LPF's risk management framework
  • Oversight of risks and issues, including independent review, assurance and timely reporting to key stakeholders in relation to the effectiveness of the control environment and compliance with regulatory obligations and requirements
  • Coordinate and manage the effective recording, analysis and reporting of incidents
  • Represent R&C on projects and change initiatives as required
  • Assist business stakeholders with design and implementation of operational best practice and process and control improvements
  • Delivering routine, themed and induction R&C training to staff as required
  • Contributing to planning and management of regulatory change
  • Developing, maintaining, reviewing and oversight of R&C policies as appropriate
  • Completing or coordinating routine and ad hoc regulatory reporting
What experience are we looking for?

The following requirements are essential for this role:

  • Previous experience in a compliance function of an FCA regulated asset management business.
  • Professional and academic qualifications to undergraduate or equivalent level.
  • Clean vetting checks.
