The team and role
Based in London, this role is responsible for supporting A&M's engagement risk management, as well as financial & legal compliance and obligations across the European, Middle East, India, Cayman, Central Asia and BVI regions. The position reports to the EMEA Director of Risk & Compliance.
The role is expected to support the identification and assessment of both engagement and compliance risk, associated risk mitigation and related controls, reporting and monitoring across multiple SBUs and geographies in the region. It will work closely with the European Finance team and the European Legal team, along with nominated SBU Risk Leads, SBU Ops Leads and MDs to support the implementation and management of both risk and compliance procedures and activities, identifying opportunities to enhance their efficiency wherever possible.
Key elements of this role include:
Anti-Money Laundering Compliance
Support the Money Laundering Reporting Officer in EMEA to manage AML compliance, including working with the MRLO to provide guidance on potential AML risks and issues as needed:
Support the MRLO to identify key issues and developments affecting the A&M Europe business from a regulatory compliance and reporting context, including:
Support the EMEA Director of Risk & Compliance (DRC) with implementation, management and support of the EMEA Risk Quality Assurance (RQA) Framework:
Support the DRC/MRLO to undertake research, review and analysis of various regulatory directives or new reporting requirements, as requested by the ECFO, EGC, DGC and Europe Leadership from time to time.

The team and role

Key elements of this role include:
- Supporting the firm's designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to manage our Anti Money Laundering process for the UK business and in other jurisdictions across each of our regional locations.
- Supporting the EMEA Director of Risk & Compliance to implement, manage, and report on engagement level risk management practices across each of our regional locations and SBUs, including support on the completion of engagement risk reviews with MDs in EMEA, and support to other geographies as required,
Anti-Money Laundering Compliance
Support the Money Laundering Reporting Officer in EMEA to manage AML compliance, including working with the MRLO to provide guidance on potential AML risks and issues as needed:
- Day to day management of AML on-boarding processes carried out across Europe, Middle East, India, Cayman & BVI; escalating concerns to the MRLO as appropriate and supporting the wider team to understand and adhere to requirements for effective AML submissions. Work with the MRLO and other team members to ensure adequate cover is available in times of absence, always providing continuity of these processes.
- Work with the MRLO to ensure that A&M complies with AML regulations regarding suspicious activity reporting, supporting internal and external submissions as required/appropriate and flagging concerns to the MRLO.
Support the MRLO to identify key issues and developments affecting the A&M Europe business from a regulatory compliance and reporting context, including:
- Helping to maintain a register of regulatory compliance obligations for each A&M European jurisdiction.
- Supporting the design and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.
- Performing targeted risk assessments to identify, evaluate and prioritize compliance risks.
- Supporting the co-ordination of required regulatory reports, submissions and applications.
- Supporting MRLO reviews of firm-wide compliance activity, compliance policies and processes, as well as audits of SBU compliance activities across the business.
Support the EMEA Director of Risk & Compliance (DRC) with implementation, management and support of the EMEA Risk Quality Assurance (RQA) Framework:
- Supporting SBU/geographical Risk & Ops leads to carry out effective engagement risk reviews with MDs.
- Supporting the maintenance and population of the EMEA RQA dashboard.
- Supporting preparation of reporting packs for SBU Heads/Country Leads.
- Supporting the implementation of the RQA framework with new SBUs or territories.
- Supporting the design and development of enhancements to the RQA dashboard.
- Supporting SBUs/territories outside of EMEA that are looking to adopt the RQA framework/dashboard.
- Supporting the DRC on actions for the Global Risk Managers group and relevant sub-committees.
- Supporting the DRC with site visits across EMEA to deliver training, Risk Reviews and audits where necessary.
- Work with the DRC/MRLO and the Internal Audit team to support regular reviews of AML & Risk controls, processes and policies.
Support the DRC/MRLO to undertake research, review and analysis of various regulatory directives or new reporting requirements, as requested by the ECFO, EGC, DGC and Europe Leadership from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience of A&M's Anti Money Laundering processes is desirable.
- AML experience/training/qualifications beneficial but not essential, as training will be arranged.
- Experience of Quality/Risk management beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.
- Ability to work on their own initiative, identifying issues in their areas of responsibility that require review and escalating to the DRC/MRLO as required.
- Ability to build solid working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders.
- Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise work, adjust to changes in workload and coordinate resources in order to meet deadlines.
