About the Team

The Risk and Compliance Team is responsible for ensuring that the GSMA has the best in class processes and controls for internal governance, risk and compliance. Together with the GSMA Risk & Compliance Committee, the team has been instrumental in the evolution of the GSMA into a more proactive and a risk aware organisation. With projects and programme cutting across the organisation, the team is highly visible and well regarded as an advisor in the organisation.

Head, Risk and Compliance

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will support the embedding, rationalization and/or enhancement of risk management and compliance framework across the organisation.

You will partner with the business to ensure risk is understood and appropriately managed. This may include:
  • Supporting the Extended Leadership Team in their risk reporting responsibilities such as the business unit risk registers
  • Optimising processes, tools and templates used in business reporting and decision making to embed risk based decision making across the GSMA
  • Undertaking specific projects for enhancement of risk competence or awareness across the GSMA
  • Engaging with key projects across the organisation to ensure risks are considered and appropriately mitigated
You will support the organisation in robust risk management through monitoring the performance and effectiveness of the Risk Management and Compliance Program on a continuing basis including:

Undertaking risk and compliance projects for process and/or control implementation and/or enhancements ensuring the appropriate and effective risk mitigation and compliance in a practical and sustainable manner

Performing risk/compliance reviews or audits as may be required, including testing of controls for quality, adequacy and effectiveness

Proposing recommendations to the GSMA's Leadership Team for enhancement/continuous improvement of controls

Provision of advice on potential areas of vulnerability and risk and support business in developing/implementing corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and providing general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

Promoting awareness of risk management and compliance through training and engagement across the organization, ensuring policies and procedures are fit for purpose and appropriately implemented and understood across the organisation

You will assist in the preparation of management reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to assist the GSMA Audit and Risk Committee and the Leadership Team in risk-based decision making.

You will be responsible for management of the GSMA's Insurance Programme to ensure that it is well matched to the evolving risks within the organisation. This includes annual policy renewals, liaising with the brokers, maintaining policy documentation and related administration.

You will support response to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and the Code of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures and manage the system for the uniform handling of such violations and maintaining appropriate records.

You will monitoring the risk environment to assess the impact of emerging risks for GSMA through up-to-date knowledge of any developments in applicable legislation, codes of practice, industry guidelines and best practices.

About You

You have demonstrable experience in designing and/or implementing organisation-wide risk management frameworks, process and internal controls or compliance programmes.

You have a strong understanding of risks, process and controls, and a sound commercial judgement to formulate adequate solutions to complex issues in ambiguous and fast paced environment.

You also have the ability to generate innovative ideas, challenge the status quo and influence and operate at all levels.

You have strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to develop internal impact and influence across all levels of the organization.

You are hands-on, self-motivated and able to work effectively with or without supervision. You actively seek learning opportunities.
