Job Description

Perform routine investigations, compliance reviews and audits, conflict of interst and commitment disclosure assessments, and monitoring activities in the Institutional Compliance and Privacy Office. Ensures organizational compliance with federal and state regulations governing higher education, research, conflicts of interest, and healthcare.

This position will report to the office Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight and develop proactive strategies to execute compliance related reviews, conflict of interest assessments, and investigations of suspected noncompliance. Maintains pertinent records and documentation, and assist through resolution.
  • Identifies data needed to review potential conflicts of interest and to ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
  • Reviews and processes electronic disclosures of outside activities and finanical interests in accordance with institutional policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Conducts supplemental research of complex disclosures; assists with preparing case write-ups for Conflicts of Interest Committee review.
  • Coordinates implementation of internal corrective action plans; monitors progress and completion; coordinates interviews and document gathering. Conducts re-audits to verify if corrective actions were fully implemented and effective.
  • Manages the Compliance hotline, including processing and following up on hotline reports and conducting investigations of reported concerns.
  • Develops and prepares statistical reports and summations on compliance audit, review and investigation activities for submission to internal stakeholders. Track and regularly report compliance metrics.
  • Reads, understands, and maintains current knowledge of complex federal and state laws, regulations, rules, and bulletins applicable to Compliance and Conflict of Interest Program.
  • Maintains Compliance Program dashboards and assist with the evaluation of Compliance and Conflict of Interest Program effectiveness.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and state statutes, laws, rules, and regulations affecting healthcare compliance practices and conflicts of interest.
  • Skill in critical thinking and sound analytical reasoning.
  • Skill in analyzing issues, developing a resolution, and implementing the solution.
  • Skill in time management to multitask effectively and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities under tight deadlines.
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service and willingness to take initiative.
  • Skill in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office programs including, but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Power-BI or other widely available analytical, decision making toolsets.
  • Ability to work independently on recurring tasks with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Five (5) years prior healthcare compliance-related experience required.
    Experience in healthcare compliance-related audits/investigations preferred.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
  • CHC Certified in Healthcare Compliance - within one (1) year of hire.
