Job Description

This role is a business critical role overseeing the onboarding and risk monitoring of suppliers and customers of NEXT.

The role leads a team of 6 FTE in the onboarding and ongoing maintenance of over 5,000 suppliers, with key interfaces into the Compliance team, Legal team, Business Directors and Strategic Suppliers.

The role sits within the wider Finance Operations team, supporting Next's Retail, Online and Total Platform Partner businesses.

Key Responsibilities;

Onboarding of Partners -
  • Lead a team of 6 FTE in onboarding and maintaining NEXT's supplier base
  • Track and manage the end to end completion of all compliance steps, actions and events in setting up a new supplier or changing details, execute reviews and escalate appropriately
  • Conduct due diligence on potential suppliers and customers to assess their suitability and compliance with NEXT's standards
  • Key approver of applications to set up or amend supplier details, providing business directors and senior management with recommendations based on risk assessments and vetted outcomes
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across Finance Operations to resolve any issues related to supplier or customer onboarding
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining and enhancing the supplier and customer onboarding process
  • Maintaining policy, user guides, supplier welcome packs , documentation and process flows for the end to end set up and onboarding of new suppliers / partners and change of details of existing suppliers/ partners
Compliance Business Partnering -
  • Providing timely and accurate advice to the business.
  • Work closely with other compliance functions including Legal, Information Security, Fraud, Audit and Tax in addition to the wider Accounts Payable function
  • Assess the business's exposure to identify possible compliance risks.
  • Establish and deploy a supplier/customer monitoring strategy.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance, risk and control.
  • Review the work of colleagues where necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice training where appropriate.
Team Management -
  • Continuously develop the team to have the right level of capability and competence and to consistently deliver the highest standards of compliance.
  • Ensure the team is highly organised and adaptable to the changing needs of the business.
Key Skills Required;
  • Superior attention to detail, analytical and reasoning skills together with strong ability to examine external and internal vetting documentation
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Project management skills and ability to link with different departments.
  • Strong leadership and track record of developing a team
  • Versatile and flexible approach to adapt to evolving situations
  • Ability to work at pace
About You;
  • Operational team management
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, ideally financial services
  • Experience at designing and using dashboards to report on performance and insight based decision making
  • Certified compliance professional (preferred but not essential)
