OverviewDue to business growth, an expanding product range, and increasingly complex laws and regulations focused on sanctions, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering (collectively, "Anti- Financial Crimes" or "AFC" laws), PPRE is looking for an experienced compliance officer who can leverage subject matter expertise in these areas to provide practical advice and counsel in all aspects of PPRE's global business.The role demands an experienced AFC compliance officer with a first class intellect and significant experience in asset management, focused on real estate (private) investment funds, public funds, and separate accounts.
The candidate should be well versed in AFC laws globally, as they apply to investors/clients, real estate investments (direct, indirect and debt), fund formation and product distribution. The candidate will partner closely with the business, including real estate transactions (direct, indirect and debt), real estate asset management, portfolio management, product strategy, finance, compliance, operations and other functions, from across the globe.The ideal candidate will also be knowledgeable in anti-fraud controls as they relate to the asset management industry, in particular to real estate investments and products.

The candidate should be well versed in AFC laws globally, as they apply to investors/clients, real estate investments (direct, indirect and debt), fund formation and product distribution. The candidate will partner closely with the business, including real estate transactions (direct, indirect and debt), real estate asset management, portfolio management, product strategy, finance, compliance, operations and other functions, from across the globe.The ideal candidate will also be knowledgeable in anti-fraud controls as they relate to the asset management industry, in particular to real estate investments and products.
Responsibilities
- Providing stakeholders and business partners with advice regarding the requirements of AFC laws globally, with a particular emphasis on EU and UK AFC laws, and best practices for accomplishing compliance with those laws
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments globally and assess applicability to PPRE's global business.
- Proactively contribute to the continued improvement of PPRE's compliance policies, procedures and processes, in line with the changing legal and regulatory environment.
- Providing AFC advice in connection with real estate transaction diligence.
- Design and implement necessary risk assessments as well as ongoing testing and monitoring.
- Providing subject matter expertise for AFC and anti-fraud training.
- Represent AFC compliance in executive boards and committees. Design and ensure ongoing reporting to all relevant stakeholders and management bodies.
- Maintain and promote communication and strong working relationships with key stakeholders within both PPRE and the wider global PIMCO group.
- Collaboration and partnership with PIMCO AFC compliance team in London and the US.
- Manage regulatory audits, coordinate remediation activities.
- Promote a strong compliance culture.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in AFC compliance, preferably with real estate investments.
- Extensive knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements in EMEA relating to AFC requirements.
- Monitoring of AFC requirements in EMEA jurisdictions.
- Deal experience relating to transactions in real estate
- Interaction/management of related regulatory inquiries.
- Experience working with Senior Management/Boards.
- University degree, preferably a law degree.
- Significant experience in a similar role, with investment management industry experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (with the ability to communicate in a clear and succinct manner).
- Excellent communication skills in English. Any additional language (such as German or French) is an asset.
