The Senior Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all applicable laws and regulations in the UK This role involves overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance policies and controls while maintaining direct communication with regulatory authorities, such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The incumbent will also lead efforts in developing a strong compliance culture across the organisation, ensuring the business operates legally and ethically at all times. The role will involve collaboration and communication with the MLRO as a second line of defence and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, including those set forth by the FCA and other relevant authorities.
  • Provide the Board of Directors, CEO, and employees with regular updates on regulatory changes and ensure the company's operations remain compliant.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks, working closely with management to ensure effective risk management strategies.
  • Develop and deliver compliance-related training programs to employees, fostering a culture of integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review the company's compliance monitoring plans to ensure ongoing adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
  • Act as the company's representative when liaising with relevant regulatory bodies, including the FCA, and address any compliance issues raised by them.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of existing compliance controls and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports accurately and on time.
  • Ensure new products or services are designed and implemented in compliance with regulatory standards and Consumer Duty
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles, preferably in the banking/remittance/payment processing/e-money sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations, especially FCA requirements.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, risk management, and liaising with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and training skills, with the ability to influence and educate employees at all levels.
  • Fitness and probity for the purposes of carrying out regulated activities.
  • University degree.
