This is a remote position based in the continental United States (work hours are in the Eastern Time Zone).

The Sr. Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in the distribution, development, and management of MASA's insurance and membership products. Support product development, workflow and operational compliance, and regulatory review.

What You Will Do

Reporting to our Compliance Director within our Legal department, we'll count on you to administer day-to-day activities and projects relating to compliance.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Carry out compliance and regulatory duties such as regulatory research, filing preparation, and maintenance of regulatory licenses.
  • Monitor and implement changes related to insurance laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Manage and resolve consumer, Attorney General, and Department of Insurance complaints promptly.
  • Audit business divisions: create GAP analysis & CAP where warranted.
  • Provide support to the Legal department with various projects which may include implementation of software/project solutions.
  • Work with compliance subject matter experts within each company division to operationalize the Compliance Plan and related processes.
  • Maintain our Record Retention policy and enforce compliance.
  • Draft compliance-related policies, privacy notices, and other initiatives.
  • Monitor, test, and report on adherence to compliance programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in privacy and compliance investigations.
What We Need From You
  • 3+ years of Compliance and/or Auditing experience with Health Plans/Health Insurance is required.
  • Skilled in self-directed work: create plans, prioritize initiatives, and execute independently or in collaboration with others as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Effective project and time management.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully handling multiple complex projects at one time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining cooperative internal and external work relationships.
  • Aptitude to read, develop, and interpret policy, rules, regulations, and other legal documents.
  • Good judgment skills and competence in problem-solving: able to draw correct conclusions from situations and make necessary recommendations.
  • Able to maintain professional boundaries with confidential information.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and state privacy laws and regulations.
