Job Introduction

The Waste Compliance team at Harris Street depot are corporately and legally responsible for the Council's Waste Service compliance, inclusive of; procuring, managing and monitoring of all waste related contracts, Duty of Care, waste legislation and efficient management of the Clinical Waste collection service.

A vacancy has arisen for a Temporary Senior Contracts & Compliance Officer (Maternity Cover) to provide comprehensive and confidential support to the Compliance & Data Manager to ensure a high standard of regulatory and legal compliance in all aspects of waste service provision.

The post holder will monitor and report on the condition of the Council's waste collection and disposal contracts, ensuring compliance KPIs, Contract Standing Orders and with all relevant environmental legislation.

It is essential that you have/are;
  • Experience in a supervisory / managerial setting where advising and decision making on complex matters and service provision is a main feature.
  • Experience of working within the Waste Management Industry, preferably waste disposal contracts in particular.
  • Educated to relevant NVQ Level 4 and / or demonstrable experience to operate at this level in a Waste Management environment.
  • Proficient in the use of SAP to raise invoices, receipt payments and create purchase orders.
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use and be prepared to travel to sites around the district.
The successful candidate will be someone who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, confident and able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels (including with external agencies such as Environment Agency etc).
