Join the Close Brothers Central Risk Team where you will be pivotal in empowering senior management and the Board to make informed decisions through objective and insightful analysis and reporting. This encompasses presenting risk exposures within the framework of strategic decisions and aiding in the attainment of regulatory objectives for operational risk management. The Senior Risk Manager will act as a deputy for the Head of Governance and Reporting within Group Operational Risk in key Committees (e.g. Group Risk and Compliance Committees) and other Senior Management meetings, offering second-line oversight, challenge, and support. This role supports business aligned Risk teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Risk Management
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of core and special reports for the Board and Risk Committee on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Engage with stakeholders at Senior Management levels across the Group providing support for risk-based decision making and assurance on controls efficacy.
  • Develop and provide advanced toolsets that enable businesses and functions to effectively manage and demonstrate their operational risks, including:
    • Risk & Controls Self-Assessments
    • Loss event capture and root cause analysis
    • Key risk and control indicator measurement and reporting
  • Provide input to the periodic refresh of the Group's operational risk appetite, KRIs, Operational Risk Policy and Standards
  • Provide direction, advice and independent challenge to business and functional teams regarding operational risk exposures to improve the risk and control environment
Operational Risk System Management
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the Group's operational risk management system, and where required, support risk management SMEs in their use of it.
People
  • Develop a culture of performance management, improvement and appraisal as a foundation for excellent organisational performance.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
Risk & Compliance

Ensure adherence to relevant Governance and Compliance requirements and oversee all reporting and reviewing activities required by Regulatory Bodies to the highest standards.

Developing Our People: as a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF HAVE:
  • A track record of working in financial services risk management roles.
  • Experience in establishing and embedding robust and effective risk management.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior / executive level management.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with varied stakeholders.
  • Ability to assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations.
  • Strong drive and resilience under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Sound judgment, integrity, professional ethics and an ability to act independently.
