Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management

Purpose of the Job

The Senior Vice President for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) will spearhead the ongoing development and continuous enhancement of Truliant Federal Credit Union's ERM program, reporting directly to the Chief Credit Officer. This role entails identifying, measuring, monitoring, and managing enterprise risk in alignment with regulatory expectations and industry standards. Additionally, the Senior Vice President for Enterprise Risk Management develops, implements, and integrates risk management programs while leading and nurturing the ERM team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Drives initiatives to advance and mature the ERM program. Provide thought leadership and hands-on support in designing and implementing new ERM processes and refining existing ones.
  • Oversees all aspects of the ERM department, including budgeting and utilizing third-party resources to supplement internal staff.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of risk management practices across the organization.
  • Partners with business and functional areas to identify potential risks and collaborate effectively to meet ERM program and organizational objectives.
  • Leads the selection, implementation, and management of an ERM Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) software application.
  • Manages departmental workload to meet deadlines and perform supervisory duties, including evaluating employee performance, and recruiting, maintaining, and developing staff.
  • Takes a leadership role in management committees, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to build an effective, engaged, and high-functioning ERM team. Regularly evaluate staffing levels and job duties to manage employee workload and productivity.
  • Performs other duties as required to support the organization's risk management objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have a strong understanding of enterprise risk, risk assessment and control methodologies, and major risks such as operational and compliance risks.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to interface with diverse stakeholder groups, including senior and executive management and regulatory agencies.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to navigate multi-functional environments and translate long-term goals and objectives into tactical plans and operational activities.
  • Must have excellent project management skills, including work plan development and implementation, project tracking, issue handling, and reporting.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have ability to understand all business processes within the credit union
  • Must be resourceful and well organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Must have good reasoning abilities and sound judgment
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment
  • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
Education and Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Audit, or a related field required. Advanced degree and risk management certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years in banking, financial services, or a related industry, with at least 5 years in developing, implementing, and managing enterprise-wide risk management programs, preferably within the financial services sector. This includes experience in leading risk assessments, training and awareness efforts, and managing direct reports and cross-functional teams required.
