Technology & Innovation practice

Within the Consulting service line, our Technology & Innovation practice is at the cutting edge of innovation and transformation within the financial services industry. We leverage technology to solve complex business challenges, while helping our clients manage risk and improve their performance. Our consultants work on the most relevant topics in the industry, such as implementing software packages for Risk Management, Core Banking/ Core Insurance, optimizing regulatory reporting processes, and conducting IT and Risk assessments.

We are capable, passionate professionals who are excited about growing their careers by working on projects critical to the financial services sector, through roles such as Project/Program Manager, Architect, Business Analyst, Technology Risk Analyst, etc.

Position summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with proven experience in the design and implementation of Enterprise Risk Management platforms to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in architecting platforms that support GRC/IRM, TPRM, ESG functions, ensuring robust systems and compliance with financial sector regulations.

He/she will bring in-depth knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management coupled with track-record of implementation of minimum one of the leading platforms like ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Platform, Archer and so on.

  • You will collaborate closely with EY Technology and Risk teams in developing our offering and capabilities.
  • You will provide consultative architecture advice and support, adapted to clients context, to business leaders and technical stakeholders who seek actionable recommendations to support decision-making on strategy, vendors tools selection, delivery, and/or other relevant topics.
  • You will be driving medium-large projects of risk platforms implementation for our clients.
This role is ideal for a driven individual with an outspoken ambition to further grow their expertise in Technology risk and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include:
  • Provide expert consulting services to insurance and banking clients, advising on Enterprise Risk Management technical strategy, and digital transformation.
  • Design and architect risk management platforms that align with our client's business objectives and technology roadmaps.
  • Translate complex requirements into high-level architectural blueprints, demonstrating a clear vision and understanding of client needs.
  • Develop and document technical requirements, defining system capabilities, performance, security, and integration details.
  • Recommend technologies and utilize best practices for microservices, API management, and DevOps.
  • Contribute to vendor selection process by overseeing the technical stream
  • Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, managing technical deliverables and ensuring projects are executed with excellence.
  • Influence key stakeholders across the client's organization, from IT teams to executive leadership, steering them towards strategic technology investments.
  • Drive continuous personal and professional development within your teams, advocating for knowledge sharing and technical proficiency.
Required qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of software development/architecture experience, preferably in financial services risk management systems.
  • Proven experience as a software architect, ideally within banking or financial services, with exposure to risk management platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP) and on-premises systems.
  • Expertise in designing microservices, distributed systems, and APIs for high-volume data integration.
  • Proficiency with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for large datasets.
  • Familiarity with risk functions in banking (e.g., operational risk, credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk).
  • Understanding of key risk frameworks (Basel II/III/IV, IFRS, DORA) and regulatory requirements for risk platforms.
  • Fluent in either or both Dutch and French, complemented with a profound knowledge of business English.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience in guiding development teams through architecture decisions and ensuring alignment with business and regulatory needs.
  • Deep understanding of security best practices and regulatory requirements in banking (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
  • Experience in implementing security protocols, data encryption, and secure access control measures.
  • Holding relevant certifications (Enterprise Architecture, Risk Management, specific Risk platforms architecture) is a plus.
