This step-up role will require the successful candidate to complete the training and shadowing and then cover TACO compliance and remote shifts on a rotational basis.

The successful candidate will use this opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Training and Compliance Officer role to help prepare them for the full TACO role should they wish to apply for it in the future.

The Step Up TACO will mainly be focusing on the operational side of the role with some basic elements of training.

The Step Up TACO will be paid at your normal hourly rate plus an additional hourly rate of £3.32

Main Purpose of the Job:
  • Ensuring the highest level of service and compliance through the training of the Terminal Services team and in line with the Terminal Security Management System (SeMs).
  • Training to be delivered to a standard that reaches the CAA Quality Assurance Standards for Certified Trainers.
  • Work to continuously improve the standards whilst providing service excellence to passengers, customers, and visitors of the airport, also ensuring compliance with all legislative, local and London City Airport procedures.
  • Ownership for working together as part of a team to achieve KPI's, compliance and business objectives, highlighting and resolving any arising issues.
  • To take responsibility for the undertaking of the Terminal Operations Security Management System (SeMS) as stated in the SeMS framework document.
Main Tasks of the Job:
  • To deliver London City Airport and Department for Transport (DfT) & CAA approved training materials to Terminal & Security staff, keeping full and complete training records for all staff, in order to ensure they are effective in their roles and the service they provide, meeting all regulatory, legal and London City Airport requirements.
  • To continuously improve the performance and standards of the Terminal Services team and processes, through performance monitoring and auditing to ensure compliance with all DfT and airport regulations whilst ensuring the highest level of customer care.
  • To ensure appropriate action is taken upon identifying non-compliance with regulations or processes.
  • To attend and pass all external & DfT courses to become an approved Aviation Security Trainer, including Level 1,2,3 Security Training, RFX, AET to level 3 and IQA (TAQA) standard.
  • To achieve Certified Instructor Status with the CAA, and work with the Training & Compliance Manager to maintain a Quality Assurance Framework for Training that is accredited by the CAA.
  • To design and deliver various training programs to enable all Terminal Services staff to deliver high performance and outstanding customer service.
  • To ensure emergency procedures training is delivered to new and existing Terminal Services staff
  • To facilitate relevant training days for officers including Aviation Security Level 1,2 & 3 initial and recurrent training, explosive recognition, customer service and ad-hoc training requirements.
  • Responsible for the implementation and the updating of operational protocols & Standard Operating Procedures.
  • To update the Airport Security Programme, relevant Risk Assessments, and any other manuals appropriate to the department.
  • To take personal responsibility for ensuring that all operational procedures are delivered to agreed guidelines and legislation.
  • Security performance analysis and required Trend Analysis to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct detailed Internal Audits against CAA Aviation Security regulations and produce high quality reports.
  • Review Security Officer Competencies to ensure they meet the required standards of LCY and CAA requirements. Provide feedback, coaching and mentoring as required.
  • To ensure that changes in service provision, legislation or company working practices communicated by management are cascaded to staff in the most appropriate way, and that records are kept of all the information and who has received it, in order to maintain quality of service delivery.
  • To ensure all training materials are updated following changes to regulation/legislation as soon as they are received and keep amendment records up to date.
  • To complete any other tasks and duties as reasonably requested by the Training & Compliance Manager.
Key Competencies:
  • Excellent delivery of training and public speaking skills
  • Ability to identify problems, understand key issues, investigate alternatives and apply judgement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Office 365
  • Ability to read and interpret documents set by all regulatory, legal and London City Airport requirements.
  • Accomplished in meeting deadlines, targets and using initiative and judgement in making decisions.
You should also have:
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths (minimum grade B)
  • AET Level 3
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Successful track record of management of staff to achieve high standards of customer service
  • A proven track record in training and administration
  • Strong leadership / management skills
  • Strong influencing / negotiating skills
  • A proven track record in meeting the high expectations of customers
  • Excellent people and presentational skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team by personal, professional example and develop staff to meet the high expectations of the customer

Hours of Work:

Dependant on step up shifts to be covered

The TACO rotating roster covers:

Monday to Friday 06.00 - 20.00.

Saturday 06.00 - 13.00

Sunday 11.00 - 20.00
