Trade Compliance Specialist

The role of the Trade Compliance Specialist will help ensure the business remains knowledgeable and compliant in all areas of Trade Compliance. They will support the Trade Compliance function across all business units and provide direct assistance to the Trade Compliance Manager, Head of Trade Compliance and Governance when required.
Key Responsibilities
Export licences and advice
* Manage the end-to-end export licence application process. Identifying and applying for the correct export licence and supporting documentation.
* Identify where Undertakings are required and contact customers to ensure that they are in place as required.
* Communicate and correspond with the ECJU and support completing annual returns and hosting periodic ECJU visits.
* Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that export control is managed effectively and efficiently.
* SIEL and OGEL licence reviews and admin including Undertaking reviews and returns.
* F680 applications and administration.
* Security Grading and Exhibition Licence applications and administration.
* Ensure data management of all export control information and maintenance of records.
* Answer general Trade Compliance queries from all Business Units
* Approve Packing Notes and Sales Orders.
Trade Compliance Team support
* Assist the Trade Compliance Manager and Head of Trade Compliance when required:
* Advice on classification of goods, software and technology for ECN and Commodity codes.
* Ensure process and standards are upheld; review and recommend improvements to procedures to ensure export licences are in place efficiently to improve on-time delivery
* Assist the Head of Trade Compliance and Governance with the preparation of any internal and external export audits as and when they may arise.
* Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder's experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business.
Logistics and Customs support
* Support the maintenance of import and export databases in line with HMRC and Export Control Order record keeping requirements.
* Conduct a Monthly Review of Shipments for adherence to export and import regulations.
* Ensure export and import documentation complies with current UK/International customs legislation.
* Support customs authorisation (Inward Processing) and ensure all UK import Customs special procedures are being utilised correctly.
* Support in the preparation of Import Clearance Instructions.
* Check that Tax and Customs documents are correct.
* Support in the preparation of data for HMRC Customs Audits.
BACM Process:
* Liaising with the customer facing teams to ensure we have input the correct information
* Tracking the application through the process
* Reporting any findings and escalating to the correct team
* Ensuring records are up to date and compliant
* Assisting with any BACM returns/reports that need to be generated
* Conducting candidate and visitor approval checks against denial lists
Supply Chain support
* Work together closely with the Supply Chain team to ensure that the appropriate export requirements are managed and in place to ensure regulatory compliance.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* Experience within a Trade Compliance/Export Compliance role.
* Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
* Eligible to gain SC Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Prior knowledge in trade compliance areas is desirable.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Experience in internal and external stakeholder management.
