This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified tax professional working in-house in tax or within a major accounting practice and looking to take the next step into a multinational FTSE 50 business.
Responsibilities
The UK Tax Compliance Manager will be responsible for:
• Managing the UK corporation tax compliance process which includes preparation of the more complex UK corporation tax computations and returns and the review of more straight forward computations prepared by a more junior member of the tax team
• Undertaking a CFC review for the group maintaining an accurate group summary of the group's overall UK tax position and status of compliance
• Managing all UK group relief claims and other claims and elections ensuring that all time limits are met
• Managing the UK corporate interest restrictions in order to ensure that the relief for interest payments is optimised.
• Managing the efficient utilisation of the group's UK tax losses
• Managing the iXBRL conversion of accounts (undertaken by the finance team and external providers)
• Working with the group innovation and technology functions and external advisers to prepare the annual Research and Development tax credit claims
• Helping to forecast the UK taxable profits
• Managing the group payments arrangement and arranging for the payment of all UK corporation tax payments
• Dealing with HMRC queries
• Preparing the year-end tax provisions for a number of UK businesses and reviewing the tax provisions of a number of overseas businesses in order to ensure that materially correct tax numbers are reported under IFRS
• Tax accounting - supporting the central finance team with preparation of accounts provisions and tax disclosures for inclusion in UK financial statements
• Employment taxes - managing the preparation of the company's annual PAYE Settlement Agreement and ensuring that accurate information is obtained from the UK trading businesses
• Employment taxes - managing the preparation of the annual declaration required for the Short Term Business Visitor Agreement ensuring that an accurate return is submitted by the due date
Requirements
Qualifications - Chartered Tax Adviser or qualified accountant who has trained in tax
Skills & Experience
Essential
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in UK corporate tax
• Working knowledge of IFRS reporting standards, particularly in relation to taxation
• Experienced user of corporation tax compliance software, preferably Alphatax, and preparing UK corporate tax computations and returns
• Working knowledge of employment taxes
Desirable
• Experience of working for a large corporate with international operations and groups of companies
• Experience with using AI / technology to manipulate data and to find efficiencies within current processes.
