Hours: 37 hours a week

The Waste Disposal team are responsible for the management of over 100,000 tonnes of household waste collected from our residents and other activities across the city. We have a vacancy for a Waste Contract Compliance Manager to join our growing team. You will work to build positive working relationships with contractors, to deliver of high-quality, value for money services.

As Waste Contract Compliance Manager, this is your opportunity to make a difference within the local community and environment. The successful candidate will have substantial contract management knowledge/experience. You should be proactive and committed to helping improve how waste is managed in Derby. You should be independent and able to progress work under your own initiative.

The Opportunity

In the role of Waste Contract Compliance Manager , here's an example of what you'll be doing to make an impact:

If you have a background in contract management and the delivery of high-quality, value for money services, we'd be keen to hear from you.

We're looking for someone who is able to build strong, positive working relationships with contractors. You'll work alongside them to resolve issues and identify opportunities to develop services, in some cases, in partnership with Derbyshire County Council.

You'll assist in the validation and collation of the city's waste data, as well as management of the waste disposal budget.

Your time will be split between the office and on site, visiting facilities operated on our behalf, or travelling to offtakers (for our waste or recycling) sites to undertake duty of care audits.

You will need a full UK driving license and be prepared to visit waste sites predominantly in Derby and Derbyshire, but also further afield and necessitating some flexibility to work outside of normal office hours (usually early mornings).

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have...

Significant and current contract management knowledge and experience

A high level of numeracy and attention to detail with the ability to accurately manage large quantities of data

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Working knowledge of H&S

Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Software, especially Excel, as well as work-based systems such as databases

Ability to constructively challenge existing practice and appraise alternative approaches

Commitment to the principles of customer care and quality standards

Degree or equivalent level qualification (or experience) in a relevant subject area

Positive, accountable team worker, who behaves with integrity

You'll be able to build strong, productive working relations with contractors, partners and colleagues

Resilience, as well as initiative and independence
