Analyst, Operational Risk Management

Salary: From £52,500 per annum dependent on experience Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time Base Location: Westferry, London Security Level: SC We are the UK's aviation and aerospace regulator and recognised as a world leader in its field. The Role The Aviation Security Compliance (ASC) Group within the CAA is the body which undertakes compliance monitoring activity to ensure that regulated aviation entities meet their legally mandated aviation security obligations. The role of ASC is to conduct security observations, inspections, audits, tests and enforcement action where security standards are below the required level. This will therefore require effective rectification action(s) by the entity, which ASC oversee. The Team enables the Secretary of State for Transport to meet the legal obligations as the UK Appropriate Authority for aviation security. The role of the Compliance Team Manager (CTM) is primarily to lead a team of aviation security compliance auditors responsible for assessing and verifying that aviation security Regulations are being applied accurately. The successful candidate will be required to build strong working relationships with industry partners (predominantly at Operations Director level), undertake compliance trend analysis, ensure efficient auditor deployments in line with business priorities and act as a sector specialist for the area within ASC that they are assigned. The candidate will also be expected to participate and provide subject matter expertise in any management projects as required. There are two roles advertised at this time, one is for a CTM covering the regulated cargo sector and one covering the airport sector across the UK and the assigned team of up to 8 Aviation Security Compliance Auditors. However, the successful candidates will be expected to be willing to be rotated into any of the other sector CTM roles depending on business needs. What will you be doing? <ul><li>You will prepare and review UK and overseas tax computations, tax provision calculations for delivery to LSS customers, and international quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations (IFRS and US GAAP).</li><li>You will deliver seamless stakeholder management, whilst seeking and implementing continuous improvements to deliver efficiencies through technology, automation and artificial intelligence solutions.</li><li>You will train, support and manage junior members of the tax team, to ensure they work seamlessly with other LSS teams, customers and in particular the LG Tax teams, to ensure that Tax technical items are correctly reflected in the Tax returns.</li><li>Working with various customers' tax and accounting teams, you will seek to understand their enterprise operational requirements for tax processes, as well as their technology environment and interfaces.</li><li>You will develop the most efficient organisational structure and limit possible exposures and/or errors, whilst expanding the scope of the LSS Tax team to other/new customers by demonstrating the potential value of the service.</li></ul>We tend to look for people with: <ul><li>Proven experience as a Finance Manager or Accountant, with a Chartered Accountancy qualification, such as ACCA, ACA or CTA, or equivalent.</li><li>Post-qualification experience in corporate tax compliance and/or reporting roles in industry or practice.</li><li>Experience with UK tax issues such as CIR, CFC, Hybrids, R&amp;D and Group Payment Arrangements.</li><li>Knowledge of Thompson Reuters ONESOURCE, or similar.</li><li>The ability to coach and support other team members, utilising a forward-thinking continuous process improvement mindset.</li><li>Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.</li></ul>
